Domain name ideas, brainstormed and checked for you
The name you love is usually taken, and checking dozens of ideas one by one in a registrar search box gets old fast. This to-do has your todo.is agent brainstorm names in the style you want, check which ones look free, flag trademark and spelling risks, and give you a shortlist of ten with the reasons behind each.
The prompt
- Give me domain name ideas for [WHAT THE BUSINESS OR PROJECT IS]. The audience is [WHO IT IS FOR] and the feel should be [STYLE]. Brainstorm 40 names, then shortlist the best 10. Rules: under 14 characters before the extension, easy to spell after hearing it once, no hyphens or numbers, and [PREFERRED EXTENSIONS]. For each shortlisted name, check whether the domain looks registered (search the web and a public WHOIS or registrar lookup), whether a business with the same name already exists in my field, and whether matching social handles look free. Note any meaning in other languages. Put it all in a table and recommend your top 3. Do not buy anything.
What to change
- [WHAT THE BUSINESS OR PROJECT IS]: e.g. "a mobile dog grooming van in Austin" or "a newsletter about personal finance for nurses".
- [WHO IT IS FOR]: e.g. "busy pet owners in their 30s".
- [STYLE]: e.g. "friendly and playful", "premium and calm" or "plain and descriptive".
- [PREFERRED EXTENSIONS]: e.g. ".com only", ".com or .co" or ".co.uk and .com".

- Domain name ideas · mobile dog grooming in Austin (example)
- Brainstormed 40 names. Availability checked Oct 8. It can change at any moment, so register quickly if you like one.
- Top 3
- • suddsy.com: short, fun to say, hints at bath time. Looks unregistered. No grooming business found with this name. Instagram handle @suddsy looks taken, @suddsydogs looks free.
- • groomvan.co: says exactly what you do. The .com is registered (parked page). The .co looks free.
- • pawlishaustin.com: city in the name helps local trust. Long-ish (14 characters) but easy to spell.
- Rest of the shortlist
- • tubtrot.com: memorable, looks free
- • muttwash.com: registered, owner shows a for-sale page
- • fluffmobile.com: registered, active site in a different field
- • barkandbubble.com: looks free, but 13 letters and "and" can be misheard
- • tidypup.com: registered, no site
- • lathervan.com: looks free
- • sniffshine.com: looks free, a bit hard to say
- Dropped
- • pupcuts.com: a grooming chain already uses a similar name. Trademark risk

- How to check before buying
- • Search the name in your country's trademark database
- • Say it out loud to 3 people and ask them to spell it
- • Check Google Maps for local businesses with the same name
- Your agent doesn't register domains. When you pick one, buy it at any registrar.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and describe your business, audience and the feel you want.
- Paste it into todo.is, or send it to your agent on WhatsApp.
- Your agent brainstorms, checks each shortlisted name and builds the table.
- Reply "more like suddsy" or "only .com" to get a new round.
Tips for a better result
- Say the name out loud. If you have to spell it on the phone, it is too hard.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers. People forget them and type the wrong address.
- A clear .co.uk, .de or .ca is fine for a local business. Your customers often expect it.
- Check trademarks before you print anything. A free domain can still be a legal problem.
- Ask your agent to remember your favorites so the next round builds on them.
domain name ideas: FAQ
- How do I find out if a domain name is available? Search it at a registrar or a WHOIS lookup. Your agent checks this for each idea, but availability can change in minutes, so confirm at checkout.
- Is .com still the best extension? For most international businesses it is the safest, because people type it by default. Local businesses do well with their country extension.
- How long should a domain name be? Shorter is easier to remember and type. Under 15 characters is a good target, ideally one or two real words.
- Can todo.is buy the domain for me? No. It finds and checks ideas. You register the domain yourself at any registrar.
