Los Angeles itinerary: one area a day, less time in traffic
LA is huge and traffic decides your day. The trick is one area at a time. This prompt asks your todo.is agent to plan a Los Angeles itinerary in zones (the beaches, Hollywood and Griffith Park, downtown, the Westside), with drive times at the hours you will travel and a theme park day if you want one.
The prompt
- Plan a Los Angeles itinerary for [NUMBER OF DAYS] days, [TRAVEL DATES], for [WHO IS TRAVELLING]. Plan one area per day to avoid traffic: Santa Monica, Venice and Malibu; Hollywood, Griffith Observatory and the hike to the sign view; Downtown (The Broad, Grand Central Market, Little Tokyo, Arts District); Beverly Hills and the Getty Center; and Koreatown or Silver Lake for food. Add [THEME PARK] as a full day. We are [TRANSPORT]. Interests: [INTERESTS]. Give drive times at the time of day we will travel and suggest where to park. One taco or food truck stop a day. Email me a PDF. Don't book anything.
What to change
- [NUMBER OF DAYS]: E.g. "5".
- [TRAVEL DATES]: E.g. "14 to 19 June". The agent checks for June gloom at the beach.
- [WHO IS TRAVELLING]: E.g. "family with kids 8 and 12", "couple", "friends".
- [THEME PARK]: E.g. "Universal Studios Hollywood", "Disneyland (Anaheim)", or "no theme park".
- [TRANSPORT]: E.g. "renting a car", "rideshare and Metro only".
- [INTERESTS]: E.g. "beaches, film locations, art, hiking, tacos".

- • Morning: Santa Monica Pier and the beach path. Rent bikes and ride south.
- • Venice Beach Boardwalk, Muscle Beach, the skate park.

- • Evening: sunset on the beach. Note: June mornings are often grey ("June gloom") and clear by afternoon.

- • Afternoon: hike from the Griffith Observatory parking area toward the Hollywood sign view (bring water; little shade).
- • Evening: Griffith Observatory at sunset (free entry to the building; parking fills, so arrive early or use the DASH bus).

- • Evening: tacos from a well-reviewed truck, then to the airport (allow plenty of time).
- Good to know
- • Avoid driving across town around 7 to 10 am and 3 to 7 pm.
- • Never leave anything visible in a parked car.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in days, dates, group, theme park, transport and interests.
- Paste it on the Today screen in todo.is, or send it to your agent on WhatsApp, Telegram or Discord.
- Your agent emails an LA PDF by zone, with realistic drive times and parking notes.
- Ask for edits ("add a Malibu drive", "swap Universal for Disneyland") and buy park tickets yourself.
Tips for a better result
- Pick your hotel by the areas you care about most. Crossing LA at rush hour can take over an hour.
- Visit the Getty in the morning and the beach in the afternoon in early summer, when the coast is often grey until noon.
- Ask your agent to find free timed reservations for The Broad and check the Griffith Observatory schedule.
- Disneyland is in Anaheim, about an hour from Hollywood without traffic; ask your agent if a night there makes sense.
Los Angeles itinerary: FAQ
- How many days do you need in Los Angeles? Four to five days covers the beaches, Hollywood, downtown and one theme park. LA is big, so more days means less rushing.
- Do I need a car in LA? It helps a lot. The Metro covers some areas, and rideshare works for short trips, but many sights are spread out.
- Where is the best view of the Hollywood sign? Griffith Observatory, Lake Hollywood Park and some hiking trails in Griffith Park give good views. You cannot walk up to the sign itself.
- Universal Studios or Disneyland? Universal is in LA and suits film and thrill fans. Disneyland in Anaheim has two parks and suits younger kids and Disney fans.
