Turn bullet points to paragraph form in clear prose
Your notes are a list of bullets, but the report, email or essay needs real paragraphs. This prompt has your todo.is agent group your bullets into logical paragraphs, connect them with transitions, keep every fact and number, and flag any bullet that was too vague to turn into a sentence.
The prompt
- Turn these bullet points into paragraphs: [YOUR BULLET POINTS]. The text is for [WHAT IT IS FOR] and the readers are [WHO WILL READ IT]. Group related bullets into [NUMBER OF PARAGRAPHS] paragraphs, each with a clear first sentence, and connect ideas with transitions (because, so, however, as a result). Keep every fact, name and number and do not add new claims. Use a [TONE] tone and plain English. After the paragraphs, list any bullet you had to interpret or could not fit, and ask me about it instead of guessing. If the bullets are in an attached file, return a Word file.
What to change
- [YOUR BULLET POINTS]: Paste the bullets, or attach notes in Word, PDF, or a photo of handwritten notes.
- [WHAT IT IS FOR]: e.g. "a project update email", "the results section of a report", "an essay paragraph", "a grant application".
- [WHO WILL READ IT]: e.g. "my team", "senior managers", "a teacher", "customers".
- [NUMBER OF PARAGRAPHS]: e.g. "3", or "you decide".
- [TONE]: e.g. "professional", "friendly", "academic", "neutral".
Example result
- Your bullets
- • Q3 website traffic up 18%
- • most growth from organic search
- • blog relaunch in July
- • paid ads budget cut 25%
- • conversion rate flat at 2.1%
- • checkout page slow on mobile (4.8 s load)
- • dev team fixing in October
- • fix "the thing" with the newsletter signup
- • goal: 2.5% conversion by end of Q4
- As paragraphs
- Website traffic grew 18% in the third quarter, even though we cut the paid ads budget by 25%. Most of this growth came from organic search, which picked up after the blog relaunch in July. This suggests our content is now doing work that paid ads used to do.
- However, more visitors have not led to more sales. Our conversion rate stayed flat at 2.1%. The main problem appears to be the checkout page on mobile, which takes 4.8 seconds to load, long enough for many shoppers to give up.
- The development team will start fixing mobile checkout speed in October. With that fix in place, our goal is to raise the conversion rate to 2.5% by the end of the fourth quarter.
- Please check
- • "fix 'the thing' with the newsletter signup" was too vague to include. What is the problem with the signup? Tell me and I will add a sentence.
- • I wrote that the slow checkout "appears to be the main problem". If you have data that proves it, I can make that sentence stronger.
- How the bullets were grouped
- • Paragraph 1: traffic and why it grew
- • Paragraph 2: conversion and the checkout problem
- • Paragraph 3: the fix and the goal
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and paste your bullets, or attach your notes file.
- Send it from the Today screen in todo.is or to your agent on Telegram, WhatsApp or Slack.
- Answer any question about vague bullets so your agent can finish those sentences.
- Copy the paragraphs into your document, or ask for a shorter or more formal version.
Tips for a better result
- Put your bullets roughly in order of importance. The first paragraph usually gets the most attention.
- Each paragraph should have one job. If a paragraph needs two topic sentences, split it.
- Transitions like "however" and "as a result" are what make prose better than a list. Ask for more if it reads like bullets with periods.
- Some content is better left as bullets, like steps or specs. Ask your agent to keep those as a list.
bullet points to paragraph: FAQ
- When should I use paragraphs instead of bullet points? Use paragraphs when you need to explain why things happened or how ideas connect. Use bullets for steps, lists of items or facts the reader will scan.
- How many sentences should a paragraph have? Usually three to six. One idea per paragraph, opened by a sentence that says what the paragraph is about.
- Can it read handwritten notes? Yes. Attach a clear photo and your agent reads the text first. Check names and numbers, since handwriting can be misread.
- Can it do the reverse and turn paragraphs into bullets? Yes. Ask it to turn the text into short bullet points, or into a summary with key points.
