Cleaning schedule: a realistic plan for your home and week
Weekend-long cleaning marathons are why most schedules get abandoned. This prompt has your todo.is agent split the work into short daily, weekly and monthly tasks sized to your home, your free time and who lives there, then print it and send you today's job each morning.
The prompt
- Make me a cleaning schedule for my [HOME SIZE AND ROOMS]. [WHO LIVES HERE]. I have about [TIME PER DAY] on weekdays and [TIME AT WEEKENDS] at weekends. Things to know: [PETS, ALLERGIES OR PROBLEM AREAS]. Split it into daily tasks (15 minutes max), a weekly rotation with one area per day, monthly tasks and seasonal deep-clean tasks. Give each task a rough time. Make a one-page printable PDF for the fridge and an Excel version I can edit. Every morning at 7:30, message me on WhatsApp with today's tasks.
What to change
- [HOME SIZE AND ROOMS]: E.g. "2-bed flat: kitchen, living room, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, small balcony".
- [WHO LIVES HERE]: E.g. "Me and my partner, both work full time". To split tasks between people, see the chore chart prompt.
- [TIME PER DAY]: E.g. "20 minutes".
- [TIME AT WEEKENDS]: E.g. "1 hour on Saturday".
- [PETS, ALLERGIES OR PROBLEM AREAS]: E.g. "a dog that sheds, dust allergy, the shower gets mouldy".

Tips for a better result
- Clean top to bottom and dry to wet: dust first, then vacuum, then mop.
- Never mix bleach with ammonia or acid cleaners, and ventilate the bathroom when using mould spray.
- Be honest about time. A 15-minute plan you do beats a 1-hour plan you skip.
- Ask your agent for a shopping list of the supplies the schedule needs, by store section.
cleaning schedule: FAQ
- How often should you clean the bathroom? A weekly clean of the toilet, sink and shower suits most homes, with a quick daily wipe or squeegee to stop mould and limescale.
- How often should bed sheets be washed? Weekly is a common recommendation, and especially helpful if you have dust allergies or pets on the bed.
- What's the best order to clean a house? Declutter first, then dust high to low, clean surfaces, and do floors last so you only vacuum and mop once.
- Can the schedule be split between housemates? Yes. List the people and your agent assigns tasks fairly, or use the chore chart prompt for a rotating rota.
