Data scientist resume that proves your models made a difference
A list of algorithms doesn’t get interviews. Hiring teams want to know which models you shipped, how you measured them and what changed for the business. This prompt has your todo.is agent read the role, decide whether it leans toward ML, analytics or research, and frame your work to fit.
The prompt
- Write my data scientist resume for this role: [JOB POST LINK]. Me: [YOUR NAME], [LOCATION], [EMAIL], [GITHUB OR GOOGLE SCHOLAR LINK]. My background: [PASTE RESUME OR LIST ROLES, MODELS, DATASETS AND RESULTS]. First tell me in one line whether the role is more product analytics, machine learning engineering or research. Then write a one-page resume (two if I have publications) where each bullet says the problem, the method (model, test or technique), and the measured result (lift, accuracy, revenue, cost). Include deployment details when I have them (APIs, batch jobs, monitoring). Skills grouped as Languages / ML & stats / Data & MLOps. Word file, ATS-friendly, no charts.
What to change
- [JOB POST LINK]: The job link, or paste the full description.
- [YOUR NAME]: Your full name.
- [LOCATION]: City, country, or "Remote".
- [EMAIL]: Your contact email.
- [GITHUB OR GOOGLE SCHOLAR LINK]: GitHub, Kaggle, personal site or Google Scholar if you publish.
- [PASTE RESUME OR LIST ROLES, MODELS, DATASETS AND RESULTS]: Paste or attach your resume. Add offline and online metrics if you know them (AUC, MAPE, conversion lift).

- Summary
- Data scientist with 4 years building forecasting and recommendation models for marketplaces. Shipped models to production that lifted conversion and cut stockouts, and owns them end to end from features to monitoring.
- Experience
- Data Scientist, Marktplatz Kollektiv · 2022 – today
- • Built a gradient-boosted (LightGBM) demand forecast for 30K products, reducing MAPE from 31% to 19% and stockouts by 14%
- • Designed and analyzed a recommendation A/B test across 1.2M users: +3.4% add-to-cart, significant at 95%
- • Deployed models as batch jobs on Airflow and a FastAPI service with drift monitoring in Evidently
- • Partnered with product managers to turn model outputs into a pricing rule now used in 4 countries
- Junior Data Scientist, Helio Insurance · 2020 – 2022
- • Trained a claims-fraud classifier (XGBoost, SHAP explanations) with 0.87 AUC, flagging 2x more confirmed cases for review
- • Cleaned 8 years of policy data in PySpark and documented the feature store used by 3 teams
- Skills
- Languages: Python, SQL, R (basic)
- ML & stats: scikit-learn, LightGBM, XGBoost, PyTorch, time series, causal inference, A/B testing
- Data & MLOps: Spark, Airflow, MLflow, Docker, AWS SageMaker, dbt
- Education
- M.Sc. Statistics, Humboldt University of Berlin · 2020
- Thesis: Hierarchical forecasting for retail demand
- Role read
- This role is machine-learning leaning with production ownership, so deployment and monitoring bullets come first.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the to-do and swap each [bracket] for your own information.
- Send it from the todo.is Today screen or to your agent on Telegram, WhatsApp or Discord. Attach your CV or thesis PDF if useful.
- Your agent classifies the role, rewrites your projects and creates a Word file.
- Ask for tweaks such as "make a research-focused version with my papers" or "shorter summary".
Tips for a better result
- Always pair a model with a metric and a business outcome: "0.87 AUC" means little without "2x more fraud caught".
- Show production work if you have it: pipelines, APIs, monitoring, retraining. Many teams screen for this first.
- Match the flavor of the role. Product analytics roles want SQL, experiments and dashboards up top; ML roles want deployment.
- Keep Kaggle medals and courses short unless you are early in your career.
data scientist resume: FAQ
- What is the difference between a data scientist and data analyst resume? A data scientist resume should show modeling, experimentation and often deployment, while an analyst resume focuses on SQL, reporting and business insight. Many roles blend both, so match the job post.
- Should I include publications? Yes for research roles, in a short Publications section. For industry ML roles, one line linking to Google Scholar is usually enough.
- How many projects should I list? Two to four strong ones with results beat a long list. Each should say the data, the method and the measured outcome.
- Can I get a one-page and a two-page version? Yes. Ask your agent for both and it creates two Word files from the same content.
