A packing list generator that reads the forecast for you
Generic packing lists either forget the one thing you need or tell you to bring a hair dryer to a campsite. This to-do has your agent check the weather at your destination, your activities and your airline's bag rules, then build a checklist sized to your trip and luggage.
The prompt
- Make me a packing list for [DESTINATION] from [DATES]. I'm traveling as [WHO] with [LUGGAGE]. Planned activities: [ACTIVITIES]. Check the weather forecast and the cabin-bag and liquid rules for [AIRLINE]. Group the list by category (clothes, toiletries, tech, documents, health, activity gear) with quantities based on the number of days and whether I can do laundry ([LAUNDRY]). Mark what goes in my carry-on, and add a short "don't forget" list for the morning I leave. Give me a printable PDF checklist and a copy I can tick off on my phone.
What to change
- [DESTINATION]: E.g. "Iceland" or "Tokyo then Okinawa". List each stop if the climates differ.
- [DATES]: E.g. "March 3–12". Used for the forecast and number of outfits.
- [WHO]: E.g. "a solo woman", "a couple", "a family with a baby". The agent adds what each person needs.
- [LUGGAGE]: E.g. "carry-on only", "one checked bag each", "a 40 L backpack".
- [ACTIVITIES]: E.g. "hiking, a wedding, business meetings, snorkeling".
- [AIRLINE]: Your airline, e.g. "Ryanair" or "United". Write "none" if you are driving.
- [LAUNDRY]: "yes, halfway" or "no". With laundry you pack about half the clothes.

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and add your destination, dates, luggage and airline.

Tips for a better result
- Pack for one week even on longer trips if you can do laundry. It halves your luggage.
- Power banks and spare lithium batteries usually must go in your carry-on, never in checked bags.
- Check the airline's own page for cabin-bag size; budget airlines are strict and charge at the gate.
- Keep a 1-day change of clothes in your carry-on in case checked luggage is late.
packing list generator: FAQ
- How do I make a packing list for a trip? Start from the weather, the number of days and your activities, then count outfits and group items by category. The prompt here does exactly that for your trip.
- What should I always pack in my carry-on? Medicines, documents, chargers and power banks, valuables, and one change of clothes. Liquids must follow the airport limits.
- Can the list cover a family or a group? Yes. Say who is traveling and the agent makes one list per person, plus a shared list for things like the first-aid kit.
- Can I reuse the list for my next trip? Yes. Your agent remembers your gear and preferences, so it can adapt the same list to a new destination and forecast.
