Pinterest pin descriptions that show up in Pinterest search
Pinterest works like a search engine, not a feed. A pin with an empty or vague description just sits there. Send your todo.is agent your pin images or blog links and it writes a title, a keyword-rich description and alt text for each pin, plus which board it belongs on.
The prompt
- Write Pinterest pin titles and descriptions for [NUMBER] pins. They link to [BLOG POSTS OR PRODUCT PAGES] and I attached the pin images. My niche is [YOUR NICHE] and my audience is [WHO PINS YOUR CONTENT]. First, search Pinterest-style keywords people use for each topic (like the phrases in Pinterest search suggestions). Then for each pin give: a title under 100 characters that starts with the main keyword, a description of 2 to 3 natural sentences (under 500 characters) that uses 2 or 3 related keywords and ends with [CALL TO ACTION], alt text describing the image, and the best board name from my boards: [YOUR BOARD NAMES]. Make each pin for the same link sound different. Put it all in a CSV.
What to change
- [NUMBER]: How many pins, e.g. 10. You can make several pins per blog post.
- [BLOG POSTS OR PRODUCT PAGES]: Paste the links. Your agent reads each page.
- [YOUR NICHE]: e.g. "small-space gardening" or "printable planners".
- [WHO PINS YOUR CONTENT]: e.g. "renters with balconies" or "students who want to get organized".
- [CALL TO ACTION]: e.g. "Read the full guide" or "Download the free printable".
- [YOUR BOARD NAMES]: List your boards, or write "suggest new boards".

- • Main phrases: balcony vegetable garden, small space gardening, container gardening for beginners, apartment balcony garden

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in the links, niche, audience and board names.
- Attach your pin images and send the to-do from the todo.is web or Android app.
- Your agent reads each page, writes titles, descriptions and alt text, and sends a CSV.
- Paste them into Pinterest or your scheduler. Ask for "5 more pins for the balcony post" anytime.
Tips for a better result
- Write for search, not for likes. Use the words someone would type into the Pinterest search bar.
- Make several pins for your best posts, each aimed at a different search phrase, instead of one pin per post.
- Describe the image in alt text. It helps accessibility and gives Pinterest more context about the pin.
- Set a recurring to-do every Monday that turns your latest blog post into 5 new pin descriptions.
Pinterest pin descriptions: FAQ
- How long should a Pinterest pin description be? Pinterest allows up to 500 characters. Two or three natural sentences with your main keyword near the start is a good target.
- Do hashtags work on Pinterest? Hashtags matter much less on Pinterest now. Clear keywords in the title and description do more for search.
- How do I find keywords for Pinterest? Type your topic into Pinterest search and look at the suggested phrases and the guided search words. Your agent can also research common phrases for you.
- Can todo.is publish pins for me? No. Your agent writes the text and the CSV, and you publish the pins yourself or with your scheduler.
