Product recall alerts that only fire for the things you own
Recalls are published on official safety sites every week, but almost nobody checks them for their own stroller, heater or car. Give your todo.is agent a list of what you own, with brands and model numbers, and it checks official recall databases on a schedule and messages you only when something matches, with what to do next.
The prompt
- Set up product recall alerts for me in [COUNTRY]. Here is what I own: [PRODUCT LIST]. Every [SCHEDULE], check the official government recall and safety alert sites for my country, plus the makers' own recall pages. Match by brand, model name or number, and batch or date codes where given. If something matches or might match, message me on [WHERE TO SEND IT] with the product, the hazard, how to check if mine is affected, the remedy (repair, refund, replacement) and the official link. Mark "possible match" when you're not sure. Don't message me if nothing matches, but send a short all-clear on [ALL-CLEAR DAY]. Food recalls: also check [FOOD ITEMS].
What to change
- [COUNTRY]: e.g. "the US", "Canada", "the UK" or "Australia".
- [PRODUCT LIST]: Brand and model for each, e.g. "Graco 4Ever car seat, Bosch dishwasher SMS4HTI45, 2019 Honda CR-V". Or attach a photo of labels.
- [SCHEDULE]: e.g. "Monday at 9:00". Weekly suits most homes.
- [WHERE TO SEND IT]: WhatsApp, Telegram, email, Slack or Discord.
- [ALL-CLEAR DAY]: e.g. "the first Monday of each month", or write "never".
- [FOOD ITEMS]: e.g. "baby formula and peanut products", or write "skip".

How to do it with todo.is
- Make a list of what you own with brand and model, or photograph the labels.
- Copy the prompt, add your country, list and schedule, then send it in todo.is or on WhatsApp.
- Your agent checks official recall sites on your schedule and messages you only on a match.
- Reply "add the new crib" whenever you buy something so the list stays current.
Tips for a better result
- Model numbers and date codes matter. Many recalls only cover certain production dates.
- Prioritize baby gear, heaters, e-bike and scooter batteries, and car seats: these recalls are often about serious hazards.
- Check your car on the official recall lookup with your VIN and give your agent the VIN to keep checking.
- If an alert says stop using the product, do that first and sort the refund later.
product recall alerts: FAQ
- How do I find out if a product I own has been recalled? Search your country's official product safety or recall database with the brand and model number, and check the maker's recall page. Your agent can do this on a schedule.
- How do I check my car for recalls? Use the official vehicle recall lookup for your country with your VIN, or ask a dealer. Open recalls are usually fixed for free.
- Do I need a receipt for a recall remedy? Often not. Many recalls only need the model and date code. The notice says what you need.
- How often should I check for recalls? Weekly is enough for most households. Each scheduled check uses a few AI credits.
