Ask questions about a PDF and get answers with page numbers
Your insurance policy is 60 pages and you just want to know if water damage is covered. Or a 200-page manual hides the one setting you need. Attach the PDF and ask your todo.is agent in plain words. It reads the whole document, answers with the page number and the exact line, and says clearly when the PDF doesn't answer the question.
The prompt
- Read the attached PDF [ATTACH THE PDF] and answer these questions: [MY QUESTIONS]. For each answer, quote the exact sentence it is based on and give the page number. If the document doesn't answer a question, say so plainly instead of guessing. I am [WHO I AM], so explain any jargon simply. Then list [EXTRA CHECK].
What to change
- [ATTACH THE PDF]: Attach the PDF (up to 50 MB). Scanned PDFs work too; your agent runs OCR first.
- [MY QUESTIONS]: E.g. "Is water damage from a burst pipe covered? What is my deductible? How long do I have to file a claim?"
- [WHO I AM]: E.g. "the policyholder, not a lawyer", "a new technician" or "a student reading this for class".
- [EXTRA CHECK]: E.g. "any exclusions or deadlines I should know about", "all the fees mentioned" or "nothing else".

- Answers from: Home_Insurance_Policy_2026.pdf (64 pages)
- 1. Is water damage from a burst pipe covered?
- Yes, with conditions. Sudden and accidental water damage from a burst pipe is covered.
- • Quote: "We will pay for sudden and accidental discharge of water from a plumbing system..." (page 14, section 3.2)
- • But: damage from a slow leak over weeks is excluded: "...repeated seepage or leakage over a period of 14 days or more" (page 22, exclusion 7)
- • And: if the home is empty for more than 60 days, pipe damage is only covered if the heating was kept on (page 23)
- 2. What is my deductible?
- $1,000 for most claims. Water damage has its own deductible of $2,500.
- • Quote: "A separate deductible of $2,500 applies to each water damage claim." (page 6, schedule)
- 3. How long do I have to file a claim?
- Report it "as soon as reasonably possible", and send the signed proof of loss within 60 days of the insurer's request.
- • Quotes: page 31, section 8.1, and page 32, section 8.4
- Deadlines and things to know
- • Mitigation: you must take reasonable steps to stop further damage, such as shutting off the water (page 31). Keep receipts: they are reimbursed
- • Photos: the policy asks for photos of damage before repairs (page 32)
- • Mold: limited to $10,000 per claim (page 18)
- Not answered by this PDF
- • Whether a specific contractor is approved. The policy refers to a separate "preferred vendor list" that is not in this file
- Note
- • This explains what the document says. For a disputed claim, ask your insurer to confirm in writing or speak to a licensed adviser
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and write your questions in plain words.
- Attach the PDF on the Today screen in todo.is, or send it to your agent on Telegram, WhatsApp or by email.
- Your agent reads the full document and answers each question with a quote and page number.
- Ask follow-up questions in the same chat. The PDF stays in your workspace, so you don't need to send it again.
Tips for a better result
- Ask for quotes and page numbers every time. You can check any answer in seconds and spot misreadings.
- Ask "what does the document not cover?". Exclusions, limits and deadlines are usually what you most need to know.
- You can attach two versions of the same document and ask "what changed about cancellation?".
- For long manuals, ask your agent to save the answers as a one-page Word or PDF cheat sheet.
ask questions about a PDF: FAQ
- Can AI answer questions about a long PDF? Yes. Your agent reads the whole file, even hundreds of pages, and cites the page for each answer so you can check it.
- What if the answer is not in the PDF? Your agent says so plainly. If you want, it can search the web for the answer and show the source links separately.
- Can I ask questions about a scanned PDF? Yes. Your agent runs OCR on scanned pages first. Very blurry or handwritten scans may be read less accurately.
- Is my document private? The PDF stays in your own agent workspace, and only your agent reads it.
