Delete pages from PDF files: blank, duplicate or unwanted
Your scanner added a blank page after every sheet, or a report has an outdated section you must not send. Tell your todo.is agent what should go: page numbers, every blank page, duplicate pages or pages that mention something. It removes them, keeps the rest in order and lists exactly what it took out.
The prompt
- Delete pages from the attached PDF: [ATTACH THE PDF]. Remove [WHAT TO DELETE]. Before deleting, show me the list of pages you plan to remove with a one-line description of each, and [CONFIRM OR GO AHEAD]. Keep all other pages in their order with the same quality, bookmarks and links. Save the result as a new file named [FILE NAME].pdf and leave the original unchanged.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE PDF]: Attach the PDF (up to 50 MB).
- [WHAT TO DELETE]: E.g. "pages 4, 9 and 22-25", "all blank pages", "pages that appear twice", "the last page" or "every page about the old 2024 pricing".
- [CONFIRM OR GO AHEAD]: E.g. "wait for my OK" for important files, or "go ahead and delete them" to save time.
- [FILE NAME]: E.g. "Inspection_Report_clean".
Example result
- Page removal report: Inspection_Report_scan.pdf
- 58 pages before · 45 pages after · 13 removed
- Removed: blank pages (11)
- • PDF pages 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30, 34, 44, 50
- • How they were found: almost no ink and no text after OCR. The scanner picked up the empty back of single-sided sheets
- • Two pages that looked blank but had a faint handwritten note (pages 38 and 54) were kept and flagged for you
- Removed: duplicate pages (2)
- • Page 41 was an exact repeat of page 40 (photo log, sheet 3)
- • Page 57 repeated page 56 (signature page scanned twice)
- Kept
- • All 45 content pages, in the original order
- • The bookmarks for Sections 1 to 6 now point to the right pages
- • File size went from 21.6 MB to 17.0 MB
- Pages to double-check
- • Page 38 (now page 30): mostly blank, but has a note in pencil in the margin. Keep or remove?
- • Page 54 (now page 43): very light text, maybe a carbon copy
- Ways to describe pages to delete
- • By number: "3, 7, 12-15"
- • By position: "the first two and the last page"
- • By type: "blank pages", "duplicates", "pages that are only images"
- • By content: "pages that mention the 2024 price list"
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and describe the pages that should go.
- Attach the PDF in todo.is on the Today screen, or send it to your agent on WhatsApp or Telegram with the prompt.
- Your agent lists the pages it will remove, waits for your OK if you asked, then saves a clean copy.
- Download it. If you change your mind, reply "put page 38 back": the original is still there.
Tips for a better result
- For contracts and official documents, ask your agent to show the list first and wait for your OK.
- "Remove all blank pages" is the fastest fix for double-sided scans of single-sided paper.
- Remember that printed page numbers and PDF page positions can differ. Describing the page content avoids deleting the wrong one.
- After deleting pages, ask your agent to renumber pages or update the table of contents if the document has them.
delete pages from PDF: FAQ
- How do I delete one page from a PDF? Give the page number, like "delete page 5". Your agent saves a copy without it and keeps everything else as it was.
- Can it remove blank pages automatically? Yes. Your agent checks every page for text and ink, removes empty ones and flags pages that are almost blank so you can decide.
- Can I undo deleting pages? Yes. The result is saved as a new file and the original stays in your workspace, so you can ask to restore any page.
- Does deleting pages reduce the quality of the rest? No. The remaining pages are copied as they are, without recompression.
