Stock watchlist news in one short morning message
Financial news sites show you everything except the eight companies you actually own or follow. This prompt gives your todo.is agent your watchlist and has it read the news before the market opens, then send only what matters for those tickers, with links.
The prompt
- Every weekday at [TIME AND TIMEZONE], send me stock watchlist news on [WHERE TO SEND] for these tickers: [MY TICKERS]. For each ticker with real news since the last briefing, give one or two sentences on what happened and why it matters, with a source link. Skip tickers with nothing new and just list them as "quiet". Include the previous close and % change for each, earnings dates in the next 14 days, dividend or split announcements, analyst rating changes from named firms, and any filings I should know about. Put [PRIORITY TICKERS] first. Keep the whole message under 250 words. On Fridays add a weekly recap with each ticker's 5-day change. Facts only, no buy or sell recommendations.
What to change
- [TIME AND TIMEZONE]: E.g. "8:00 New York time", before the US market opens. Pick a time that fits your exchange.
- [WHERE TO SEND]: WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord or email.
- [MY TICKERS]: E.g. "AAPL, MSFT, COST, NVDA, VOO, ASML". Add the exchange for non-US stocks, e.g. "SAP (XETRA)".
- [PRIORITY TICKERS]: The 1–3 you care most about, e.g. your biggest positions.

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and add your tickers, the time and where you want the message.
- Paste it into todo.is or send it to your agent on Telegram, WhatsApp or Slack.
- It becomes a recurring to-do. The first briefing arrives at the next scheduled time.
- Reply to adjust: "add TSLA", "remove BKRY", "skip prices" or "make it shorter".
Tips for a better result
- Keep the list to 15 tickers or fewer. More than that and the message stops being a quick read.
- Ask it to skip quiet tickers. Most days most stocks have no real news, and that's fine.
- Add your ETFs too, but ask only for big changes like fund closures or fee cuts.
- Want a deeper look before earnings? Send a one-off to-do: "summarize HRBR's last earnings call and what analysts expect".
stock watchlist news: FAQ
- Are the stock prices real time? No. The briefing uses the latest prices available when it runs, usually the previous close. For live prices, use your broker.
- Can I get news for non-US stocks? Yes. Add the exchange next to the ticker and pick a time that fits that market. Your agent searches news in English and can include local-language sources if you ask.
- Will it tell me when to buy or sell? No. It summarizes news and facts with links. Investment decisions are yours, ideally with a licensed adviser.
- How much does a daily briefing cost? Each run uses a few AI credits from your plan. Weekdays only keeps usage lower.
