Add a watermark to PDF pages: text or logo
You are sending a draft proposal, or a price list you don't want passed around without your name on it. Ask your todo.is agent to stamp every page with a watermark: a word like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, the recipient's name, or your logo, light enough that the document stays easy to read.
The prompt
- Add a watermark to every page of the attached PDF: [ATTACH THE PDF]. Watermark: [TEXT OR LOGO]. Place it [POSITION AND STYLE]. Make it about [OPACITY] opaque so the text underneath stays readable, and apply it to [WHICH PAGES]. Make it part of the page so it cannot be selected and deleted as a separate object. Keep the original file unchanged and send me the watermarked copy, plus a preview image of page 1.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE PDF]: Attach the PDF (up to 50 MB). Several files are fine, each gets the same watermark.
- [TEXT OR LOGO]: E.g. "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT, not for distribution", "Prepared for Harbor Dental, 8 Oct 2026" or "my logo" (attach it as PNG, ideally transparent).
- [POSITION AND STYLE]: E.g. "diagonally across the center in large grey letters", "small in the bottom right corner" or "tiled across the whole page".
- [OPACITY]: E.g. "15%" (subtle), "30%" (clearly visible) or "50%".
- [WHICH PAGES]: E.g. "all pages", "all except the cover" or "pages 2-10".
Example result
- Watermark report: Proposal_Harbor_Dental.pdf
- 18 pages · watermark on pages 2 to 18 · 2.4 MB
- The watermark
- • Text: DRAFT · Prepared for Harbor Dental · 8 Oct 2026
- • Style: Helvetica Bold, mid grey (#888888), 20% opacity
- • Placement: diagonal at 45°, centered, about 70% of the page width
- • Line 2 in smaller letters under the main word, so the recipient name is visible on every page
- How it is built
- • Drawn into the page content, behind no text, so it shows on screen and when printed
- • Not a comment or form field, so it cannot be hidden with one click in a PDF reader
- • The original text stays selectable and searchable; the watermark does not get in the way of copy and paste
- What your agent checked
- • Page 7 has a full-page photo. The watermark is still visible on it, but light enough not to hide the image
- • The pricing table on page 12 stays readable: no numbers are covered by the darker center of the letters
- • The cover (page 1) is left clean, as you asked
- Other watermark styles you can ask for
- • Corner stamp: small "Confidential" in the footer of each page
- • Tiled: the recipient's email repeated across the page in light grey, which discourages screenshots
- • Logo: your PNG logo centered at 10% opacity, like a letterhead mark
- • Per recipient: one copy for each name in a list, each with its own watermark
- A note on protection
- • A watermark discourages sharing and shows the status of a document. Someone with editing software can still remove it, so for sensitive files also add a password
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and write your watermark text, or attach your logo.
- Attach the PDF and paste the prompt in todo.is on the Today screen, or send it to your agent on Telegram or WhatsApp.
- Your agent stamps the pages and shows you a preview.
- Download the copy, or reply "lighter" or "move it to the corner" to adjust it.
Tips for a better result
- 15 to 25% opacity in grey is the sweet spot: clearly visible, but the page stays easy to read.
- Putting the recipient's name in the watermark is a strong deterrent against forwarding. Your agent can make one copy per name from a list.
- For a logo watermark, send a PNG with a transparent background. A JPG logo will show a white box.
- Keep the original unwatermarked file for your records. Your agent always saves the stamped version as a copy.
add watermark to PDF: FAQ
- How do I add a watermark to all pages of a PDF? Attach the PDF, give the text or logo and say "all pages". Your agent stamps every page in the same position and style.
- Can a PDF watermark be removed? A watermark built into the page content is hard to remove casually, but someone with editing tools can. For real protection, add a password as well.
- Can I use my logo as a watermark? Yes. Attach your logo, ideally a transparent PNG, and say the size, position and opacity you want.
- Will the watermark cover the text? It sits lightly over the page at the opacity you choose, so text stays readable. Your agent checks tables and photos and tells you if anything is hard to read.
