English writing assistant that makes your English sound natural
Your English is correct enough, but it sounds translated: "I am writing to ask you about if", "make a decision about this topic". This prompt has your todo.is agent correct your text, make it sound like a native speaker wrote it, and explain the main changes in your own language so you stop making the same mistakes.
The prompt
- Help me with my English writing. My native language is [NATIVE LANGUAGE] and my level is about [ENGLISH LEVEL]. Here is my text: [TEXT]. It is a [TYPE OF TEXT] for [READER]. Please: 1) correct the grammar and spelling, 2) rewrite phrases that sound translated so they sound natural, but keep my meaning and keep it simple, 3) list the 5 most useful changes with a short explanation in my native language, 4) give me 3 phrases from this text I should memorize. Remember my common mistakes for next time.
What to change
- [NATIVE LANGUAGE]: e.g. "Spanish", "Arabic", "Brazilian Portuguese".
- [ENGLISH LEVEL]: e.g. "B1", "intermediate", "advanced but not natural".
- [TEXT]: Paste it, attach a file, or send a photo or voice message. Your agent transcribes voice.
- [TYPE OF TEXT]: e.g. "work email", "LinkedIn post", "cover letter", "message to my landlord".
- [READER]: e.g. "my manager in London", "a client I have never met", "my teacher".
Example result
- Your text, corrected and natural
- Hi Mark,
- I'm writing to ask about the delivery date for order 4471. We were expecting it last Friday, but it hasn't arrived yet. Could you let me know when we can expect it? If there's a problem, we're happy to discuss other options.
- Thanks in advance,
- Lucía
- Your original
- "I write you for ask about if the delivery of the order 4471. We were waiting it the last Friday but still it not arrived. Can you inform me when it will arrive? If exist a problem, we are open to discuss other options."
- 5 most useful changes (explained in Spanish)
- • "I write you for ask" → "I'm writing to ask": en inglés se usa el presente continuo para lo que haces ahora, y "to" + verbo para el propósito, no "for".
- • "waiting it" → "expecting it": "wait" necesita "for" (wait for it). Para algo planeado, "expect" suena más natural.
- • "the last Friday" → "last Friday": sin artículo con last/next + día.
- • "still it not arrived" → "it hasn't arrived yet": present perfect con "yet" para algo que todavía no pasó.
- • "If exist a problem" → "If there's a problem": en inglés el sujeto es obligatorio; "hay" = "there is".
- 3 phrases to memorize
- • "Could you let me know when...?" (polite request)
- • "It hasn't arrived yet." (still waiting)
- • "We're happy to discuss other options." (flexible, professional)
- Saved for next time
- • You often use "for" + verb instead of "to" + verb
- • You drop the subject (it, there) at the start of a sentence
How to do it with todo.is
- Fill in your native language, level and what the text is for, then paste your text.
- Send it in todo.is or from WhatsApp or Telegram, so you can fix emails from your phone.
- Copy the natural version and read the explanations in your own language.
- After a few texts, ask your agent "make me a short exercise on my top 3 mistakes".
Tips for a better result
- Say who the reader is. English for a client, a friend and a teacher is different, and the agent adjusts the tone.
- Ask to keep it simple. Natural English is often shorter and plainer than textbook English.
- Memorize whole phrases, not single words. "Could you let me know" is more useful than "inform".
- Because your agent remembers your common mistakes, the explanations get more personal over time.
English writing assistant: FAQ
- How can I make my English sound more natural? Use the phrases native speakers use in that situation, like "Could you let me know" instead of "Can you inform me". Reading corrected versions of your own texts is one of the fastest ways to learn them.
- Can it explain mistakes in my own language? Yes. Write your native language in the prompt and the explanations come in that language, while the corrected text stays in English.
- Can I use it for speaking practice too? Yes. Send a voice message in English; your agent transcribes it and gives feedback on grammar and word choice. It can also reply with a voice note.
- US or UK English? Either. Add "use UK English" or "use US English" to the prompt and spelling and phrases follow it.
