Find local businesses near any address and get them in one list
Maybe you are new in town, looking for a good dry cleaner and a vet, or building a list of cafés to pitch your product to. Your todo.is agent searches maps listings and business websites around the area you name, checks they are still open, and puts everything in a clean spreadsheet with links.
The prompt
- Find local businesses of this type: [TYPE OF BUSINESS] within [DISTANCE] of [ADDRESS OR AREA]. Search maps listings, review sites and the businesses' own websites. For each one give the name, address, distance, website, public phone or email, a one-line description, the rating and number of reviews, and a short summary of what reviewers praise or complain about. Skip places that look permanently closed. Sort by [HOW TO SORT]. Deliver an Excel file with a link for every row and send me the top 5 on [WHERE TO SEND IT].
What to change
- [TYPE OF BUSINESS]: e.g. "independent bakeries", "dog groomers", "accountants who work with freelancers".
- [DISTANCE]: e.g. "2 km", "a 15-minute walk" or "10 miles".
- [ADDRESS OR AREA]: A street address, postcode or neighborhood, e.g. "Kreuzberg, Berlin".
- [HOW TO SORT]: e.g. "distance", "rating with at least 50 reviews" or "open on Sundays first".
- [WHERE TO SEND IT]: WhatsApp, Telegram, email, Slack or Discord.
Example result
- Independent bakeries within 2 km of Oranienstraße
- 18 found. 2 skipped because their listings say permanently closed. Sorted by rating (at least 50 reviews).
- Top 5
- 1. Korn & Kruste · 0.4 km · 4.8 (612 reviews)
- Sourdough and rye loaves, small café corner. Reviewers love the crust and the cardamom buns; weekend queues are long.
- kornundkruste.example · public phone on website
- 2. Bäckerei Hafen · 0.9 km · 4.7 (388 reviews)
- Family bakery since the 1980s. Praised for prices and friendly staff; some say bread sells out by early afternoon.
- 3. Mehlwerk · 1.1 km · 4.7 (240 reviews)
- Whole-grain and spelt focus, vegan options. Reviewers mention very few seats.
- 4. Brotzeit Kollektiv · 1.6 km · 4.6 (151 reviews)
- Worker-run bakery, sells flour and starter too. Some complaints about card payment.
- 5. Petite Miette · 1.8 km · 4.5 (97 reviews)
- French-style pastries, good croissants, higher prices.
- In the spreadsheet
- • Columns: name, address, distance, website, phone or email, rating, review count, praise, complaints, link to listing
- • 13 more bakeries, including 4 with fewer than 50 reviews in a separate tab
- • Opening hours change often, so check the listing or call before a special trip
- Notes
- • 3 bakeries have no website, only a maps listing.
- • If you want to pitch to them, the list has public business contacts only.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in the business type, distance, area and how to sort.
- Send it in todo.is or message it to your agent on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Your agent searches listings and websites, then delivers an Excel list and a short top 5.
- Ask for more, like "only ones with outdoor seating" or "draft a short intro email to the top 10".
Tips for a better result
- Be specific about the type. "Vegan-friendly bakeries" or "plumbers who do emergency calls" gives a far better list.
- Ask for a minimum number of reviews. A 5.0 with 4 reviews tells you less than a 4.6 with 400.
- Ask the agent to note anything that suggests a place moved or closed, like a dead website.
- For outreach, ask for public business contacts only and keep your first message short and relevant.
find local businesses: FAQ
- How do I find businesses near me? Search a maps app with a specific type of business and your area, then check reviews and websites. Your agent does the same across several sources and puts the results in one list.
- Can it build a list of local businesses for sales outreach? Yes. It collects public business details into a spreadsheet. Respect each site's terms and local rules on business email outreach.
- Are opening hours always correct? No. Listings are often out of date, especially around holidays. Check the business's own site or call before you go.
- How many businesses can it find? Usually dozens in a city area. For very large lists, split the search by neighborhood or postcode.
