Resize image files to exact dimensions, one or many
A form wants a 600 x 600 photo, your website theme wants 1920 px banners, or you have 80 product shots in 6000 px straight from the camera. Your todo.is agent resizes every image to the size you name, keeps the proportions, pads or crops only if you say so, and returns sharp copies with the original files untouched.
The prompt
- Resize the attached images: [ATTACH THE IMAGES]. Target size: [TARGET SIZE]. If an image has a different shape, [FIT OR CROP OR PAD]. Never stretch or squash them. Save as [FORMAT] and keep the file names, adding the new size at the end. Apply light sharpening after shrinking so details stay crisp. Put all resized images in one ZIP and tell me the final size of each.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE IMAGES]: Attach the images (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, up to 50 MB each), or a ZIP of many.
- [TARGET SIZE]: E.g. "1200 px wide", "exactly 600 x 600 px", "50%", "long edge 2048 px" or "10 x 15 cm at 300 dpi for printing".
- [FIT OR CROP OR PAD]: E.g. "crop to fill from the center", "fit inside and add a white background" or "keep the shape, only match the width".
- [FORMAT]: E.g. "same as the original", "JPG", "PNG" or "WebP for my website".
Example result
- Resize report: 24 product photos
- Target 1200 x 1200 px · JPG quality 85 · white padding where needed
- Before and after
- • Original size: 6000 x 4000 px, about 7.8 MB each, 186 MB total
- • New size: 1200 x 1200 px, 280 to 450 KB each, 9.1 MB total
- • File names: mug_blue.jpg → mug_blue_1200x1200.jpg
- How each shape was handled
- • 19 square-ish photos: scaled down, then cropped a few pixels to exactly 1:1, keeping the product centered
- • 5 wide photos (3:2): scaled to 1200 px wide and padded top and bottom with white, so nothing is cut off
- • Your agent checked that no product edges were cropped
- Quality steps
- • Resized with a high-quality filter (Lanczos), then a light unsharp mask, so labels stay readable
- • Color profile converted to sRGB so colors look the same in every browser
- • Camera metadata (GPS location) removed; copyright tag kept
- Common sizes for reference
- • Online shop product photos: 1000 to 2000 px square
- • Website hero or banner: about 1920 px wide
- • Email newsletter image: 600 px wide (1200 px for sharp screens)
- • Passport or ID photo online: often 600 x 600 px; always check the official rules
- • Print 10 x 15 cm at 300 dpi: 1181 x 1772 px
- Good to know
- • Shrinking keeps quality. Enlarging a small image beyond its size adds blur, because there is no extra detail to show
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and write the size you need.
- Attach the images in todo.is on the Today screen, or send them to your agent on WhatsApp or Telegram as files (not compressed photos).
- Your agent resizes, sharpens and names every copy, then zips them.
- Download the ZIP. Reply "also make 400 px thumbnails" to get a second set.
Tips for a better result
- Say what happens to a different shape: crop, pad or keep proportions. That one choice decides how the results look.
- Send photos as files, not as WhatsApp or Telegram images. Chat apps shrink photos before your agent even sees them.
- For the web, ask for WebP or JPG at 80 to 85 quality. For logos and screenshots with text, ask for PNG.
- Making a small image bigger cannot add detail. If you must enlarge, ask your agent for AI upscaling and check the result.
resize image: FAQ
- How do I resize an image without losing quality? Shrinking with a good filter and light sharpening keeps it crisp. Quality only drops when you enlarge a small image or save at very low JPG quality.
- Can I resize many images at once? Yes. Attach them all or send a ZIP, and your agent resizes every one with the same settings.
- How do I resize an image to a specific file size, like under 200 KB? Give both a pixel size and a file size limit. Your agent resizes, then adjusts compression until each image fits.
- Will resizing stretch my photo? No. Your agent keeps the proportions and crops or pads only if you choose that.
