Rotate PDF pages so they stay the right way up
Half the pages of a scanned contract open sideways, and turning them in your viewer does not save. Your todo.is agent rotates the pages for real inside the file. It can turn the pages you list, or look at every page, read the text direction and fix only the ones that are wrong.
The prompt
- Rotate the pages of the attached PDF: [ATTACH THE PDF]. [WHICH PAGES AND HOW]. Save the rotation into the file so it opens correctly in any viewer, phone or printer. Do not change anything else: keep the quality, size, links and page order. Send me the fixed PDF as [FILE NAME].pdf and list the pages you rotated and by how much.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE PDF]: Attach the PDF (up to 50 MB).
- [WHICH PAGES AND HOW]: E.g. "Rotate pages 3, 7 and 12 by 90 degrees clockwise", "turn the whole file 180 degrees" or "check every page and fix any that are sideways or upside down".
- [FILE NAME]: E.g. "Contract_signed_fixed". Without it, your agent adds _rotated to the original name.
Example result
- Rotation report: Contract_signed.pdf
- 20 pages · 6 rotated · same size (3.1 MB) · same quality
- Pages your agent rotated
- • Page 2: was 90° counter-clockwise (text ran bottom to top). Rotated 90° clockwise
- • Page 5: upside down. Rotated 180°
- • Page 9: landscape table, sideways. Rotated 90° clockwise so the table reads left to right
- • Pages 14 and 15: scanned with the paper turned. Rotated 90° clockwise
- • Page 18: signature page, sideways. Rotated 90° counter-clockwise
- Pages left as they were
- • 14 pages already read normally
- • Page 11 is a wide spreadsheet printed in landscape on purpose. It stays landscape, now the right way round
- How your agent checked direction
- • Read the text on typed pages to see which way the lines run
- • On scanned pages, ran OCR in all four directions and kept the one that gave real words
- • Looked at page 18, which has almost no text, and used the signature line and date to decide
- Why the fix sticks
- • The rotation is written into the PDF itself, not just the view
- • It opens correctly in Adobe Reader, Chrome, Preview, phone apps and on printers
- • Nothing is re-rendered, so text stays selectable and the file size does not change
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and list the pages to turn, or ask your agent to check them all.
- Paste it into todo.is on the Today screen and attach the PDF, or send it to your agent on Telegram or WhatsApp.
- Your agent rotates the pages and saves the change inside the file.
- Download the fixed PDF. If one page is still off, reply "page 9 the other way".
Tips for a better result
- "Check every page and fix the wrong ones" is the easiest request for scans. You do not need to count pages yourself.
- Rotating in a viewer like Chrome only changes your view. Your agent writes the rotation into the PDF, so it stays fixed when you send it.
- Landscape tables are often meant to be sideways in a portrait document. Say if you want them kept landscape or turned to read normally.
- Fixing rotation before running OCR or converting to Word gives much better text recognition.
rotate PDF: FAQ
- How do I rotate one page in a PDF? Name the page and the direction, e.g. "rotate page 4 by 90 degrees clockwise". All other pages stay as they are.
- Why does my PDF rotation not save? Most viewers only rotate the view. To fix it for good the rotation has to be saved inside the file, which is what your agent does.
- Does rotating a PDF reduce quality? No. Rotation only changes how the page is turned, so text, images and file size stay the same.
- Can it detect which pages are upside down? Yes. Your agent reads the text direction on each page, using OCR for scans, and rotates only the ones that are wrong.
