A weekly market recap of your watchlist, sent every Friday
Daily market noise is tiring, but checking once a week leaves you guessing why things moved. This prompt has your todo.is agent write a weekly market recap after the close on Friday: how the main markets and your own watchlist did, the few stories that explain it, and what is on the calendar for next week, all with source links.
The prompt
- Every Friday at [TIME] ([TIME ZONE]), after the market close, write my weekly market recap and send it to [WHERE TO SEND IT]. Cover: 1) the weekly change for [MARKETS TO COVER]; 2) the weekly change for my watchlist: [MY WATCHLIST], with one line on why each one moved more than 3%; 3) the 3 to 5 stories that moved markets this week, with source links; 4) next week's calendar: earnings for my watchlist, central bank meetings and major economic data. Put the numbers in a small table. Write in plain language for [MY LEVEL]. Do not give buy or sell advice. Also save it as a PDF so I have an archive.
What to change
- [TIME]: After the close where you invest, e.g. 23:00 in Europe for US markets, or 18:00 for European ones.
- [TIME ZONE]: Your time zone, e.g. "Europe/London".
- [WHERE TO SEND IT]: Email works best for a table and a PDF. WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack and Discord work too.
- [MARKETS TO COVER]: E.g. "S&P 500, Nasdaq, FTSE 100, gold, oil, the 10-year US yield and EUR/USD".
- [MY WATCHLIST]: Tickers or company names, e.g. "ASML, Novo Nordisk, Microsoft, an S&P 500 ETF". Add funds or crypto if you like.
- [MY LEVEL]: "a beginner", "a long-term investor" or "someone who follows markets daily".

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in your markets, watchlist and level.
- Paste it on the Today screen in todo.is, or send it to your agent on WhatsApp.
- Every Friday your agent checks the numbers, reads the news and sends the recap with a PDF copy.
- Reply to adjust it, like "add bitcoin" or "explain the bond move in more detail".
Tips for a better result
- Keep the watchlist under 15 names. Past that, the recap turns into a list of numbers with no story.
- Set a move threshold ("explain anything over 3%") so you only read about what actually changed.
- Ask for "this week vs. the last 4 weeks" if you want trends instead of single weeks.
- Use a month-end version too: "on the last Friday of the month, add the monthly change".
weekly market recap: FAQ
- Is this financial advice? No. The recap summarizes what happened, with sources. For decisions about your money, talk to a licensed financial adviser.
- Where do the prices come from? Your agent reads public market data pages and financial news sites when the recap runs and links to them. Numbers can be delayed, so check the source before acting on them.
- Can it cover crypto and currencies too? Yes. Add coins or currency pairs to the markets or watchlist and they appear in the same table.
- Can I get it on Sunday evening instead? Yes. Change the day and time; a Sunday recap can also include what to watch on Monday morning.
