Extract pages from PDF files into a new, smaller document
You only need the signed page and the price schedule from a 90-page tender, or the one chapter your class is reading. Your todo.is agent copies just those pages into a new PDF, keeps them sharp and leaves the original as it is. It can even find the pages for you if you only know what they contain.
The prompt
- From the attached PDF [ATTACH THE PDF], extract [WHICH PAGES] into a new PDF. Keep the pages in [ORDER], at their original quality, with their links working. If I described pages by content, tell me which page numbers you picked and why. Leave the original file unchanged. Name the new file [FILE NAME].pdf.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE PDF]: Attach the PDF (up to 50 MB).
- [WHICH PAGES]: E.g. "pages 3, 8 and 41-45", "chapter 6", "every page that mentions 'warranty'" or "the page with the signatures".
- [ORDER]: E.g. "the original order" or "signature page first, then the rest".
- [FILE NAME]: E.g. "Tender_Price_Schedule_and_Signatures".
Example result
- Extracted pages: Tender_Pack_2026.pdf
- 92 pages in the original · 7 pages in the new file · 1.1 MB
- Pages your agent picked
- • Page 3: cover letter with the tender reference number
- • Pages 41 to 45: Price Schedule (Section F). Found by the heading "Schedule of Prices" and the table of contents
- • Page 88: Form of Tender, signed and stamped
- Pages it looked at and left out
- • Page 46: an empty continuation sheet for the price schedule, no figures on it
- • Page 87: instructions for the signature page, not the page itself
- What the new file keeps
- • Same page size (A4) and the same sharpness: pages are copied, not re-scanned
- • Clickable links in the table on page 43
- • Searchable text on the typed pages; page 88 is a scan, so your agent ran OCR to make it searchable too
- Extract pages vs. delete pages
- • Extract: you say what to keep, and get a new file with only those pages
- • Delete: you say what to remove, and get the same file minus those pages
- • Both leave the original PDF as it is, so you can always go back
- Useful follow-ups
- • "Put the price table into Excel"
- • "Add page numbers 1 to 7 at the bottom"
- • "Extract the same pages from the other 4 tender files I am attaching"
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and list the pages, or describe what is on them.
- Attach the PDF and paste the prompt in todo.is on the Today screen, or message your agent on WhatsApp, Telegram or email.
- Your agent finds the pages, copies them into a new PDF and tells you which ones it used.
- Download the file. Reply "also add page 12" to update it without starting again.
Tips for a better result
- If you don't know the page numbers, describe the content ("the page with the totals"). Your agent reads the file and finds it.
- Printed page numbers and PDF page numbers often differ because of cover pages. Say which ones you mean, or describe the content.
- Extracting a few pages is a quick way to share only what someone needs, without sending a whole confidential document.
- Need the pages as images instead? Ask for PNG or JPG files of those pages.
extract pages from PDF: FAQ
- How do I extract specific pages from a PDF? List the page numbers or ranges, like "2, 5 and 10-14". Your agent copies them into a new PDF and leaves the original unchanged.
- Can I extract pages from a scanned PDF? Yes. Pages are copied as they are. If you describe pages by content, your agent runs OCR first so it can read the scan.
- Will extracted pages lose quality? No. The pages are copied directly, so they look exactly like in the original.
- Can I extract pages from several PDFs at once? Yes. Attach all the files and say which pages to take from each, and whether to combine them into one PDF.
