Instagram post design: on-brand posts and carousels in minutes
Posting regularly is hard when every graphic takes an hour. This prompt has your todo.is agent design Instagram posts in the right 4:5 size, in your brand colours and fonts, with text placed exactly, and write the caption for each so you can post straight from your phone.
The prompt
- Design [NUMBER] Instagram posts for [BRAND OR ACCOUNT] about [TOPIC]. Format: [FORMAT]. Brand colours and fonts: [BRAND STYLE]. Use my attached photos where they fit, otherwise generate images in a consistent style. Put text on the image as real text (exact spelling), large enough to read on a phone, at most 15 words per slide. Size 1080 x 1350 px PNG. Keep important content inside the centre square so the profile grid crop still looks good. Write a caption for each post with 3 to 5 relevant hashtags in a separate Word file. [EXTRA REQUEST]
What to change
- [NUMBER]: E.g. "3" for a week of posts, or "1" for a single carousel.
- [BRAND OR ACCOUNT]: Your account name and what you do, e.g. "Bloom Pilates, a studio in Austin".
- [TOPIC]: E.g. "3 stretches for desk workers", "our new summer class schedule", "a client testimonial".
- [FORMAT]: "single image posts", "one 6-slide carousel", or "quote posts".
- [BRAND STYLE]: Hex codes and font names if you have them, e.g. "sage #9CAF88, off-white, Playfair Display headings". Or attach a past post.
- [EXTRA REQUEST]: Optional, e.g. "also make a 9:16 Story version of each" or "none".
Example result
- Carousel for Bloom Pilates: 3 stretches for desk workers
- 6 slides · 1080 x 1350 px · sage #9CAF88 and off-white · Playfair Display headings, Inter body
- Slide by slide
- • Slide 1 (cover): "Desk all day? Try these 3 stretches". Photo of an instructor at a desk, sage panel at the bottom.
- • Slide 2: "1. Seated cat-cow". Step text: "Hands on knees. Arch, then round. 8 slow breaths."
- • Slide 3: "2. Chest opener". "Clasp hands behind you, lift gently, hold 20 seconds."
- • Slide 4: "3. Figure-four hip stretch". "Ankle on opposite knee, sit tall, lean forward slightly."
- • Slide 5: "Do this every 2 hours". Simple clock icon, short reminder.
- • Slide 6: "Try a free class" with the studio handle and "Link in bio".
- Design rules used
- • Headings 64 px, body 38 px, so text reads without zooming
- • Same position for the slide number and logo on every slide, so swiping feels connected
- • Key content inside the central 1080 x 1080 area: the profile grid shows a crop of the cover
- Caption (post 1)
- Sitting for 8 hours tightens your hips, chest and lower back. Save this and try all three on your next break. Which one felt best? Tell us below.
- pilates #deskstretches #austinfitness #mobility #workfromhome
- Files delivered
- • bloom_desk_stretches_slide1.png to slide6.png
- • bloom_captions.docx: caption and hashtags for each post
- • Optional: 1080 x 1920 Story versions if you asked for them
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and replace the brackets with your brand, topic, format and style.
- Attach photos and a past post you like, then paste it in todo.is or send it to your agent on WhatsApp.
- Download the PNG slides and the caption file, and post them from your phone.
- Make it a weekly to-do ("every Monday, design 3 posts about this week's classes") to keep a steady feed.
Tips for a better result
- Use the 4:5 portrait size. It takes up more of the feed than a square post.
- Make slide 1 a clear promise ("3 stretches for desk workers") so people swipe, and end with one action.
- Ask for a brand kit page first: colours, fonts and layout rules your agent then reuses for every post.
- If you sell products, attach clean product photos. Real photos usually outperform generated ones for shops.
Instagram post design: FAQ
- What is the best size for an Instagram post? 1080 x 1350 px (4:5 portrait) for feed posts and carousels. Stories and Reels covers use 1080 x 1920 (9:16).
- How many slides can a carousel have? Instagram allows up to 20 slides in a carousel. Five to ten is usually enough to keep people swiping to the end.
- Can todo.is post to Instagram for me? No. Your agent makes the images and captions; you post them yourself. It can remind you on WhatsApp when it is time to post.
- Can I use my own fonts? Attach the font files (.ttf or .otf) you have a license for, and your agent uses them for the text.
