WAV to MP3 converter for recordings, demos and voice-overs
WAV is great while you record and edit, and too big for sharing: a 10-minute stereo WAV is about 100 MB. Your todo.is agent converts your WAV files to MP3 at the bitrate that suits music or speech, keeps loudness consistent across tracks, and adds titles so they show up properly in players.
The prompt
- Convert the attached WAV files to MP3: [ATTACH THE WAV FILES]. This is [CONTENT TYPE], so use [BITRATE]. [CHANNELS]. Normalize loudness to [LOUDNESS] so all tracks sound equally loud, without clipping. Add tags: artist [ARTIST], album [ALBUM], and track numbers in this order: [TRACK ORDER]. Send a ZIP and a table with each file's length and size before and after.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE WAV FILES]: Attach the .wav files (up to 50 MB each), or a ZIP.
- [CONTENT TYPE]: E.g. "music demos", "a podcast", "voice-over takes" or "field recordings".
- [BITRATE]: E.g. "320 kbps" for music, "128 kbps" for speech, or "suggest one".
- [CHANNELS]: E.g. "keep stereo" or "mono, it is just voice".
- [LOUDNESS]: E.g. "-14 LUFS for streaming", "-16 LUFS for podcasts" or "keep original levels".
- [ARTIST]: E.g. "Juno Reyes".
- [ALBUM]: E.g. "Garage Sessions EP".
- [TRACK ORDER]: E.g. "as numbered in the file names" or "Morning, Static, Late Bus, Home".
Example result
- WAV to MP3: Garage Sessions EP
- 4 WAV tracks · 24-bit 48 kHz stereo · 412 MB
- 4 MP3 tracks · 320 kbps stereo · 38 MB
- Tracks
- • 01 Morning.mp3 · 3:42 · 8.5 MB (was 102 MB)
- • 02 Static.mp3 · 4:05 · 9.4 MB (was 112 MB)
- • 03 Late Bus.mp3 · 3:18 · 7.6 MB (was 91 MB)
- • 04 Home.mp3 · 5:11 · 11.9 MB (was 142 MB)
- Loudness
- • Before: tracks ranged from -19 to -11 LUFS, so "Static" sounded much louder than "Home"
- • After: all four at about -14 LUFS, the level many streaming services aim for
- • A true-peak limiter at -1 dB stopped any clipping after MP3 encoding
- Tags added
- Artist Juno Reyes, album Garage Sessions EP, track numbers 1 to 4, year 2026. Attach a square image and your agent adds it as cover art.
- Picking a bitrate
- • 320 kbps: music you share with listeners or labels
- • 192 kbps: music for previews or websites
- • 96 to 128 kbps mono: voice, podcasts, voice-over drafts
- Keep the WAVs
- MP3 is lossy. Keep the original WAV files for mixing, mastering and any future format. Convert again from WAV, never from MP3 to MP3.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in the content type, bitrate, loudness and tags.
- Attach the WAV files (or a ZIP) in todo.is, or send them to your agent on Telegram or Discord.
- Your agent measures and normalizes loudness, encodes the MP3s and tags them.
- Ask for changes like "add cover art" or "make 128 kbps previews too".
Tips for a better result
- Normalize to one loudness for a set of tracks. Listeners notice jumps in volume more than small quality differences.
- Leave 1 dB of headroom. MP3 encoding can push peaks over 0 dB and cause clicks.
- For podcasts, mono speech at 96 to 128 kbps is standard and halves the file size.
- Name WAV files with track numbers first (01, 02…) so the order is never in doubt.
WAV to MP3 converter: FAQ
- What bitrate should I use for WAV to MP3? Use 320 kbps for music you care about, 192 kbps for previews and 128 kbps or less for speech.
- Will I hear a difference between WAV and MP3? At 320 kbps most people cannot hear a difference on normal speakers or headphones.
- Can it make all my tracks the same volume? Yes. Your agent measures loudness and adjusts every track to the level you choose.
- Can I convert to FLAC instead? Yes. FLAC is lossless and about half the size of WAV. Just ask for FLAC.
