WebP to PNG converter that keeps transparent backgrounds
Logos, stickers and icons saved from the web are often WebP files with a transparent background, and your design tool or slide software wants PNG. Your todo.is agent converts them to PNG with the transparency intact, checks the edges and can trim or resize them for you.
The prompt
- Convert the attached WebP files to PNG: [ATTACH THE WEBP FILES]. Keep the transparent background and the full colour. [TRIM]. [SIZE]. If a file has no transparency, tell me, and [NO TRANSPARENCY]. Keep the original names and send a ZIP plus a preview sheet showing each PNG on a checkerboard so I can see the transparency.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE WEBP FILES]: Attach .webp files, e.g. logos, icons, stickers or cut-out product shots.
- [TRIM]: E.g. "trim empty space around each image" or "keep the canvas as is".
- [SIZE]: E.g. "keep size", "512 × 512 px icons" or "1024 px longest side".
- [NO TRANSPARENCY]: E.g. "remove the white background" or "leave it as it is".
Example result
- WebP to PNG: sticker pack
- 7 WebP in · 7 PNG out · RGBA (with transparency) · ZIP 1.9 MB
- Files
- • cat-wave.png · 512 × 512 px · transparent
- • cat-sleep.png · 512 × 512 px · transparent
- • coffee-cup.png · 480 × 512 px · transparent (trimmed)
- • sun-face.png · 512 × 512 px · transparent
- • hello-text.png · 512 × 230 px · transparent (trimmed)
- • badge-new.png · 512 × 512 px · had a white background, now removed
- • banner.png · 1600 × 400 px · no transparency (it is a photo), converted as is
- What your agent checked
- • Alpha channel: 5 files had transparency and kept it, including soft shadow edges
- • Trimming: empty transparent space around coffee-cup and hello-text was cut away, so they line up neatly in slides
- • badge-new.webp had a flat white background. It was removed, then the edges were checked at 400% zoom for a white halo
- • Colours: converted without colour shift; PNG is lossless, so nothing more is lost in conversion
- Preview sheet
- preview_checkerboard.png shows all 7 on a grey and white checkerboard. Anywhere you see the checkerboard is transparent.
- Good to know
- PNG files are larger than WebP. That is normal: PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which is why designers prefer it for logos and stickers.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt, then choose trimming, size and what to do with solid backgrounds.
- Attach the WebP files on the Today screen or send them to your agent on WhatsApp.
- Your agent converts them, keeps transparency and sends a ZIP with a preview sheet.
- Reply "add a white outline" or "make 128 px versions too" for more changes.
Tips for a better result
- Look at the checkerboard preview. It is the fastest way to spot a background that was not really transparent.
- Removing a white background works best on flat graphics. On photos, ask for AI background removal instead.
- For app or emoji sizes, ask for exact squares, such as 512 × 512 px, with the art centred.
- If you only need a photo, JPG is smaller. PNG is worth it for graphics, text and transparency.
WebP to PNG converter: FAQ
- Does converting WebP to PNG keep transparency? Yes. PNG supports full transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas stay exactly as they were.
- Is WebP to PNG lossless? The conversion itself is lossless. If the WebP was already compressed, that earlier loss stays, but nothing new is lost.
- Why is my PNG bigger than the WebP? WebP compresses more efficiently. PNG stores the image without loss, so it takes more space.
- Can it remove a background while converting? Yes for plain backgrounds on graphics. For photos, AI background removal gives cleaner edges; check the result.
