Business card design: front, back and a print-ready PDF
You need cards for a meeting next week and the free templates all look the same. This prompt has your todo.is agent design the front and back at real print size, place your name, title and phone number as exact text (not AI-drawn letters), and hand you a PDF your print shop can use.
The prompt
- Design a business card for [NAME AND JOB TITLE] at [COMPANY]. Front: logo and name. Back: [CONTACT DETAILS]. Style: [STYLE AND COLOURS]. Size: [CARD SIZE], with 3 mm bleed on every side and all text at least 4 mm inside the trim line. Use AI only for the background or pattern, then add every word as real text so the spelling and numbers are exact. Give me 3 options as PNG previews at 300 DPI. When I pick one, make a print-ready PDF with front and back on two pages. [LOGO FILE]
What to change
- [NAME AND JOB TITLE]: Exactly as it should be printed, e.g. "Dana Ruiz, Licensed Electrician".
- [COMPANY]: Company or brand name, e.g. "Brightline Electric". Write "none" for a personal card.
- [CONTACT DETAILS]: Phone, email, website, address or social handle. Three or four lines is plenty.
- [STYLE AND COLOURS]: E.g. "clean and minimal, navy and white", "bold yellow and black", "elegant serif on cream".
- [CARD SIZE]: "US 3.5 x 2 in", "EU 85 x 55 mm", or "square 65 x 65 mm".
- [LOGO FILE]: Attach your logo (a PNG with a transparent background is best) and write "logo attached", or "no logo, text only".

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in your name, company, contact lines, style and card size.
- Paste it on the Today screen in todo.is with your logo attached, or send both to your agent on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- You get three front-and-back previews as PNG files to compare.
- Reply with the option you like and any changes ("bigger phone number", "no address"), then ask for the print PDF.
Tips for a better result
- Less is more: name, role, one phone, one email and a website fit a card cleanly. Put the rest on your website.
- Keep contact text at 7 pt or larger. Anything smaller is hard to read once printed.
- Ask for a version with a QR code linking to your website or contact card on the back.
- Your agent remembers your brand colours and fonts, so your flyers and email signature can match the card later.
business card design: FAQ
- What is the standard business card size? In the US and Canada it is 3.5 x 2 inches. In most of Europe it is 85 x 55 mm. Japan uses 91 x 55 mm, so tell your agent where you will print.
- What is bleed and do I need it? Bleed is extra background (usually 3 mm or 1/8 inch) beyond the cut line, so no white edge shows if the cutter shifts slightly. You need it whenever color or images reach the edge of the card.
- Can I print these at home? Yes, on perforated business card sheets, but a print shop gives sharper results and thicker paper. Give them the PDF and ask them to check it before printing.
- Will the text be spelled correctly? Yes. The words are added as real text with code after the background is made, so names and numbers come out exactly as you typed them. Still proofread before you order.
