HEIC to JPG converter for iPhone photos, in a batch
iPhones save photos as HEIC, and plenty of websites, Windows apps and print shops still refuse them. Send the photos to your todo.is agent and get JPGs back that open everywhere, upright, with the date taken kept and the size you need.
The prompt
- Convert the attached HEIC photos to JPG: [ATTACH THE HEIC FILES]. Use quality [QUALITY]. [RESIZE]. Keep each photo upright and keep the date taken in the file. [LOCATION DATA]. Name the files [NAME PATTERN]. Put them in a ZIP if there are more than 5, and tell me the total size before and after.
What to change
- [ATTACH THE HEIC FILES]: Attach .heic or .heif files, or a ZIP of them. Send them as files, not compressed photos, to keep full quality.
- [QUALITY]: E.g. "92 (almost no visible loss)", "80 (smaller files)".
- [RESIZE]: E.g. "keep full size", "longest side 2048 px" or "under 1 MB each".
- [LOCATION DATA]: E.g. "remove GPS location" (safer for sharing online) or "keep it".
- [NAME PATTERN]: E.g. "keep original names", or "Garden_2026_001.jpg…" by date taken.
Example result
- HEIC to JPG: 48 iPhone photos
- 48 HEIC in · 48 JPG out · quality 92 · full size · ZIP 112 MB
- Before and after
- • HEIC total: 74 MB
- • JPG total: 112 MB (JPG is less efficient than HEIC, so files grow at the same quality)
- • Size: 4032 × 3024 px kept
- What your agent did
- • Converted each photo with Pillow and the HEIF plugin, keeping the colour profile so greens and skin tones do not look flat
- • Applied the orientation tag, so portrait photos are upright in every app, even those that ignore rotation flags
- • Kept the date taken and camera model in the photo data
- • Removed GPS location from all 48, as you asked
- • Renamed by date taken: Garden_2026_001.jpg (12 May, 08:14) to Garden_2026_048.jpg (3 June, 19:40)
- Live Photos and bursts
- • 6 photos were Live Photos. The still image was converted; the short video part is not included in a JPG
- • If you want the motion too, attach the .mov files and ask for GIFs or short MP4s
- Tip for next time
- On iPhone: Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible saves new photos as JPG directly. HEIC saves space, so many people keep it and convert only when needed.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and choose quality, size and whether to keep location.
- Attach the HEIC photos (or a ZIP) in the todo.is app, or send them as files on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Your agent converts them, fixes orientation and sends back the JPGs.
- Need web versions too? Reply "also make 1600 px versions under 400 KB".
Tips for a better result
- Quality 90 to 92 looks the same as the original to the eye. Going to 100 doubles the size for no visible gain.
- Remove GPS data before posting photos of your home online. Your agent can strip it while converting.
- AirDrop or email from an iPhone sometimes converts to JPG already. Check the file extension before you send.
- For large sets, zip the photos on your computer first: one upload keeps everything in order.
HEIC to JPG converter: FAQ
- Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality? A tiny amount, because JPG compresses differently. At quality 90 or above the difference is not visible in normal viewing.
- Why are my JPG files bigger than the HEIC files? HEIC compresses better than JPG. The same photo needs more space as a JPG to look the same.
- Are the photo date and location kept? The date taken is kept. Location is kept or removed, as you choose in the prompt.
- Can I convert HEIC to PNG instead? Yes. Ask for PNG, but expect much larger files. JPG is the usual choice for photos.
