New apartment listing alerts that only send real matches
Good rentals in busy cities go in a day or two, and site alerts flood you with flats that ignore half your filters. This prompt has your todo.is agent check the rental sites you choose a few times a day, filter by your real must-haves, skip what it already sent, and message you new listings with the link, price and a one-line verdict.
The prompt
- Check for new apartment listings for me [HOW OFTEN] on [LISTING SITES]. I am looking for: [AREAS], [BEDROOMS], max rent [MAX RENT] per month, and these must-haves: [MUST-HAVES]. Only send listings posted since your last check that match all of that, and never send the same listing twice (watch for the same flat posted on two sites). For each one, send me on [WHERE TO SEND IT]: the link, rent, size, area, available-from date, the photos link, and one line on anything that looks off (no photos, price far below the area average, asks for a deposit before a viewing). If nothing new matches, send nothing. Do not contact any landlord or agent without asking me first.
What to change
- [HOW OFTEN]: E.g. "every 3 hours from 8:00 to 22:00, Berlin time". More checks find listings faster but use more credits.
- [LISTING SITES]: The rental sites you use in your city, or "the main rental sites for this city". Paste search result links with your filters if you have them.
- [AREAS]: Neighbourhoods or a commute rule, e.g. "Kreuzberg, Neukölln or Friedrichshain" or "under 30 minutes by transit to Alexanderplatz".
- [BEDROOMS]: E.g. "2 rooms" or "1 bedroom or a large studio".
- [MAX RENT]: Amount and currency, and whether it includes bills, e.g. "€1,400 warm".
- [MUST-HAVES]: E.g. "balcony, lift or 2nd floor max, pets allowed, unfurnished, available before March 1".
- [WHERE TO SEND IT]: WhatsApp or Telegram is best for speed. Email works too.
Example result
- 2 new listings · Tuesday 15:00 check
- Example with fictional listings.
- 1. 2 rooms, Neukölln · €1,350 warm
- • Size: 58 m², 3rd floor with lift
- • Available: from February 1
- • Good: balcony facing the courtyard, pets allowed, 9 minutes' walk to the U-Bahn
- • Check: "warm" rent includes heating, not electricity
- • Posted: 1 hour ago · link to listing · link to photos
- 2. 2 rooms, Friedrichshain · €1,390 warm
- • Size: 61 m², 2nd floor
- • Available: from March 1 (your limit, so it just fits)
- • Good: renovated kitchen, unfurnished, 20 minutes to Alexanderplatz by tram
- • Check: no balcony, but a shared garden. It misses one must-have, so I flagged it instead of skipping it.
- • Posted: 3 hours ago · link to listing
- Skipped this round
- • 3 listings over your budget once bills are added
- • 1 duplicate: listing 1 was also posted on a second site
- • 1 likely scam: a large flat in Mitte at half the usual rent, no viewing offered, landlord "abroad" asks for a deposit by transfer. Do not send money before a viewing and a signed contract.
- What happens next
- • Next check at 18:00. Only new matches are sent.
- • Reply "draft a message to the agent for listing 1" and I will write it for you to approve.
- • Reply "add Wedding to my areas" to widen the search.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and fill in your areas, budget, must-haves and how often to check.
- Paste it on the Today screen in todo.is, or send it to your agent on WhatsApp. If a site needs a login, connect your own Chrome with the todo.is Connector.
- Your agent runs the checks on schedule and messages you only when a new listing matches.
- Reply to adjust filters, ask for a draft message to the landlord, or pause the alerts once you have signed.
Tips for a better result
- Paste the search links you already use, with filters set. Your agent then checks exactly what you would check.
- Say which must-haves are strict and which are nice to have. Near-misses are often worth a look.
- Have a short intro about you ready (job, move-in date, who will live there) and ask the agent to draft first messages from it. Speed matters in busy markets.
- Ask for a weekly summary of what was listed and at what price, so you can tell if your budget is realistic.
new apartment listing alerts: FAQ
- How fast will I hear about new listings? As fast as your schedule. Checking every 2 to 3 hours during the day catches most listings on the day they go up; more frequent checks use more credits.
- Can it contact landlords or book viewings for me? It can draft messages and emails for you to approve. It does not send anything, book or pay without your OK.
- Can it tell me if a rental listing is a scam? It flags common warning signs, like rent far below the area, no viewing, or a deposit before you see the flat. It cannot guarantee a listing is genuine, so never pay before a viewing and a contract.
- Does it work for buying a home too? Yes. Change the prompt to sale listings and a max price. The same new-only, no-duplicates rules apply.
