A Reddit topic digest of the threads worth your time
Reddit has great answers buried under memes, repeats and long comment chains. This prompt sets up a digest: your todo.is agent reads the public subreddits and keyword searches you pick, keeps the threads with real substance, and summarizes each one with the best replies and a link, daily or weekly.
The prompt
- Every [SCHEDULE], make me a Reddit topic digest. Read the public posts from the last [TIME WINDOW] in [SUBREDDITS], plus Reddit search results for [KEYWORDS]. Pick the [NUMBER OF THREADS] most useful threads: real questions with good answers, experience reports, new tools and debates. Skip memes, self-promotion and repeats of threads you sent before. For each thread: the title, the subreddit, upvotes and comment count, a 2-sentence summary, the most helpful reply in one line, and the link. End with "Common questions this week" if you see the same question 3 or more times. Send it to [WHERE TO SEND IT].
What to change
- [SCHEDULE]: E.g. "morning at 8:00 Paris time" or "Sunday at 10:00".
- [TIME WINDOW]: 24 hours for daily, 7 days for weekly.
- [SUBREDDITS]: E.g. "r/homeautomation, r/smarthome and r/homeassistant".
- [KEYWORDS]: Product names, problems or brands, e.g. "Zigbee hub, Matter devices, my brand Lumora". Write "none" to skip.
- [NUMBER OF THREADS]: 5 to 10 keeps it readable.
- [WHERE TO SEND IT]: Email for long digests; WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord for short ones.

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and add your subreddits, keywords and schedule.
- Paste it on the Today screen in todo.is or send it to your agent on Telegram.
- Your agent reads the public threads on schedule and sends the digest with links.
- Reply with feedback like "more troubleshooting, fewer reviews" and it adjusts the next digest.
Tips for a better result
- Add your brand or product name as a keyword to use the digest as light social listening.
- For niche subreddits with few posts, weekly works better than daily.
- Ask for "threads with fewer than 50 comments but a question about my product", which are the easiest to help in.
- Ask it to keep a running sheet of recurring questions as Excel, a ready-made FAQ list for your docs or content.
Reddit topic digest: FAQ
- Does it need my Reddit account? No. It reads public subreddits and public search results. It does not post, comment or vote for you.
- Can it monitor Reddit for mentions of my brand? Yes. Add your brand name and spelling variants as keywords. Each mention comes with the thread link and whether the tone is positive, negative or mixed.
- Can it read private or quarantined subreddits? No. It only reads what is publicly visible and respects the site's terms.
