AI interview preparation: your personal prep pack for one job
Generic interview question lists do not tell you what this company will ask. This prompt has your todo.is agent research the company and the role, predict the questions, and draft answers from your own experience that you can practise out loud.
The prompt
- Help me prepare for my [INTERVIEW TYPE] interview for [JOB TITLE] at [COMPANY NAME] on [INTERVIEW DATE]. The job ad: [JOB POSTING LINK]. My experience: [PASTE YOUR RESUME OR MAIN WINS]. Research the company (what they sell, recent news, culture, and any public interview reviews) with source links. Then give me 12 likely questions with short STAR answers based on my real experience, 3 tricky questions I might get and how to handle them, and 5 smart questions I can ask them. Put it all in a PDF I can print, and email it to me.
What to change
- [INTERVIEW TYPE]: For example "first-round phone", "technical", "panel" or "final with the CEO".
- [JOB TITLE]: The role title from the job ad.
- [COMPANY NAME]: The company interviewing you.
- [INTERVIEW DATE]: The date, e.g. "Thursday 14 May". Helps your agent plan a reminder if you ask for one.
- [JOB POSTING LINK]: Link to the ad, or paste the description text.
- [PASTE YOUR RESUME OR MAIN WINS]: Your resume text or 4 to 6 things you are proud of. Attaching your resume file also works.
Example result
- Company brief: Harbor Logistics
- • Freight software for mid-size shippers, about 400 staff, offices in Rotterdam and Austin
- • Raised a Series C in March and announced a push into rail freight
- • Values on their careers page: "own the outcome", "simple over clever"
- • Public interview reviews mention a case study round and questions about handling angry customers
- Likely questions
- 1. Tell me about a time you handled an unhappy client.
- • Situation: a top-10 account threatened to leave after three late deliveries
- • Task: keep the account and fix the root cause
- • Action: called them the same day, set up a weekly check-in, found a carrier scheduling error with ops
- • Result: no late deliveries for 5 months, contract renewed for two years
- 2. How do you prioritise when everything is urgent?
- • Sort by customer impact and deadline, say no out loud, share the list with your manager. Use the Q4 peak-season example.
- 3. Why Harbor Logistics?
- • Link your rail freight project at your current job to their new rail push.
- Tricky questions
- • "Why are you leaving after only 18 months?" Keep it forward-looking: the role you want is bigger than the one available.
- • "What is your salary expectation?" Give a researched range and say you are flexible on the full package.
- Questions to ask them
- • What does success look like in the first 90 days?
- • How will the rail freight launch change this team’s work?
- • What do people who do well here have in common?
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and replace the [brackets] with your interview details.
- Paste it into todo.is or message it to your agent on WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Your agent researches the company with sources, writes your answers and emails you a printable PDF.
- Ask it to quiz you: "ask me these questions one by one and give feedback on my answers".
Tips
- Practise out loud. Send your agent a voice note with your answer and ask for feedback on length and clarity.
- Add "remind me the evening before with my top 5 answers" and your agent sends a short recap at the time you choose.
- Name your interviewers if you know them. Your agent can look up their public profiles so you know their background.
- Keep each STAR answer under two minutes. Ask for "a 60-second version" of any answer that runs long.
FAQ
- What is the STAR method? STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. It is a simple way to answer "tell me about a time" questions with a short story that ends in a clear outcome.
- How far ahead should I prepare for an interview? Two or three days is enough for most interviews. That gives you time to research, practise answers out loud and prepare your own questions.
- Can the agent do a mock interview with me? Yes, in a chat. Ask it to ask you one question at a time and give feedback. You can reply by text or with voice notes, which it transcribes.
- Where does the company information come from? Your agent searches the web and reads public pages like the company site, news articles and review sites, and gives you the source links so you can check them.
