Lesson plan generator for a full class, ready to teach
A good lesson plan takes an hour you do not have on a Sunday night. This prompt has your todo.is agent write a complete plan for your grade and subject: a measurable objective, a timed warm-up, direct teaching, guided and independent practice, support for different learners and an exit ticket, plus the handout and slides if you want them.
The prompt
- Write a lesson plan for [GRADE AND SUBJECT] on [TOPIC]. The class is [LESSON LENGTH] and I have [CLASS DETAILS]. Align it to [STANDARD OR CURRICULUM] and write one measurable objective ("Students will be able to…"). Include timings for: a 5-minute warm-up, direct instruction with a worked example, guided practice in pairs, independent practice, and a 3-question exit ticket. Add differentiation for students who need support, for advanced students and for English learners, the materials list, and likely misconceptions with how to address them. Give me the plan as a Word document, a one-page student handout, and an 8-slide PowerPoint for the lesson. Email them to me.
What to change
- [GRADE AND SUBJECT]: E.g. "6th grade math", "Year 9 English" or "adult ESL, B1".
- [TOPIC]: E.g. "ratios and unit rates", "writing a persuasive paragraph".
- [LESSON LENGTH]: E.g. "50 minutes".
- [CLASS DETAILS]: E.g. "28 students, 4 English learners, 2 with IEPs, Chromebooks available".
- [STANDARD OR CURRICULUM]: E.g. "Common Core 6.RP.A.2", "the UK national curriculum", "IB MYP" or "no standard".
Example result
- Lesson plan: unit rates (6th grade math, 50 minutes)
- Standard: CCSS 6.RP.A.2 · 28 students, 4 English learners, 2 IEPs
- Objective
- Students will be able to find a unit rate from a word problem and use it to compare two offers, with at least 2 of 3 exit-ticket questions correct.
- Materials
- • Slides, handout, mini whiteboards, two cereal boxes with price tags
- Warm-up (5 min)
- • "A 12-pack of water costs $6. What does one bottle cost?" Students answer on whiteboards.
- Direct instruction (12 min)
- • Define rate and unit rate (a rate per 1 of something)
- • Worked example: 300 miles in 5 hours → 300 ÷ 5 = 60 miles per hour
- • Think aloud: which number goes on top? The one you want "per" the other.
- Guided practice in pairs (13 min)
- • Compare cereal: 18 oz for $4.50 vs 24 oz for $6.48. Which is the better buy?
- • Teacher circulates; pairs explain their reasoning to another pair
- Independent practice (12 min)
- • 6 problems on the handout, from one-step to compare-two-offers
- Exit ticket (5 min)
- • 1. 8 pencils cost $2. Cost per pencil?
- • 2. Ana reads 90 pages in 3 hours. Pages per hour?
- • 3. Which is cheaper per song: 10 songs for $9 or 15 songs for $12?
- • Answers: $0.25; 30 pages per hour; 15 songs for $12 ($0.80 vs $0.90)
- Differentiation
- • Support: a table with "total ÷ number = per 1" columns; problems with whole-number answers first
- • Advanced: find the price at which both offers would cost the same per ounce
- • English learners: word bank with pictures (rate, per, each, better buy), sentence frame "___ is a better buy because ___ per ___"
- Likely misconceptions
- • Dividing the wrong way (hours ÷ miles). Fix: ask "per what?" and label units every time.
- • Thinking the bigger package is always cheaper. The cereal example shows it is not.
How to do it with todo.is
- Fill in your grade, subject, topic, class length and any standard you follow.
- Send the to-do to your agent from the todo.is app, or by WhatsApp or email.
- You get the plan, a student handout and a short slide deck by email.
- Reply with changes ("make it 40 minutes", "add a group game"), or ask for the next four lessons of the unit.
Tips for a better result
- Write the objective so you can check it in the exit ticket. If you cannot measure it, rewrite it.
- Tell your agent about your class (devices, group size, learners who need support). It changes the activities.
- Plan the misconceptions in advance. Knowing the two typical mistakes makes guided practice much more useful.
- Your agent remembers your school's template and standards, so next time you only send the topic.

- What should a lesson plan include? A clear objective, the standard, materials, a warm-up, teaching, guided and independent practice, a check for understanding such as an exit ticket, and differentiation.
- Can it follow my school's lesson plan template? Yes. Attach your template as a Word or PDF file and your agent fills in the same headings.
- Can it plan a whole unit? Yes. Ask for a unit plan with the number of lessons, and you get an overview plus a plan for each lesson.
- Does it work for other countries' curricula? Yes. Name the curriculum or exam board and your agent checks its official documents online before writing.
