Search Console data analysis that turns exports into actions
Search Console has the most honest SEO data you will get, but the Performance report shows rows, not answers. Attach your exports and your todo.is agent compares periods, spots pages on the edge of page one, finds titles with low click-through and lists falling queries, then gives you a short action list instead of a pivot table.
The prompt
- Analyze my Google Search Console data for [YOUR SITE]. I attached [EXPORT FILES] for the last [PERIOD] and the period before it. Find: queries ranking in positions 8 to 20 with high impressions (quick wins), pages with a click-through rate well below others at the same position (title and snippet problems), pages and queries that lost the most clicks, new queries that appeared, and the split by country and device. Note anything that looks like a tracking or indexing issue. Use Python to do the math and make 4 clear charts. Deliver an Excel file with the cleaned data and a tab per finding, plus a one-page Word summary in plain English with the 10 actions I should take, starting with [MY PRIORITY].
What to change
- [YOUR SITE]: The property name, e.g. "wanderkitchen.com".
- [EXPORT FILES]: Search Console Performance exports (Queries, Pages, Countries, Devices). Export the Compare view to get both periods in one file.
- [PERIOD]: e.g. "3 months" or "28 days". Compare to the previous period or the same period last year for seasonal sites.
- [MY PRIORITY]: What matters most, e.g. "recipe pages", "product pages" or "getting more clicks from mobile".
Example result
- Search Console analysis: wanderkitchen.com
- Last 3 months compared with the 3 months before. Figures are from your exports.
- The short version
- Impressions grew 14% but clicks fell 6%. You are showing up more, but fewer people click. The drop is mostly on mobile, and mostly on 9 recipe pages whose titles look weak next to competitors.
- Quick wins (positions 8 to 20, high impressions)
- • one pot orzo (pos 11.2): /recipes/one-pot-lemon-orzo. Add a jump-to-recipe button and an FAQ section.
- • air fryer chickpeas (pos 9.8): page is only 300 words. Add timing for different air fryers.
- • vegan shepherds pie (pos 14.5): two of your pages share impressions. Pick one and link to it.
- Low click-through for their position
- • /recipes/miso-soup: position 4, CTR well below your other top-5 pages. Title is just "Miso Soup". Try "Easy Miso Soup (15 Minutes, 5 Ingredients)".
- • /recipes/banana-bread: position 6 with a 2021 date in the snippet. Update the recipe and date.
- Biggest losers
- • /blog/meal-prep-ideas lost the most clicks. Rankings held but impressions fell, so demand for the topic is seasonal (January peak).
- New queries
- • 42 new queries around "high protein" recipes. That cluster deserves its own category page.
- Possible issues
- • 12 pages had impressions then dropped to zero. Check the Pages report for "Crawled, currently not indexed".
- Top 3 actions
- • 1. Rewrite titles on the 9 low-CTR recipe pages
- • 2. Expand the 3 quick-win pages
- • 3. Create a High Protein Recipes category page
How to do it with todo.is
- In Search Console, open Performance, set Compare dates and export Queries, Pages, Countries and Devices.
- Copy the prompt, fill in the brackets, attach the files and paste it into todo.is.
- Your agent cleans the data with Python, makes charts and writes the Excel workbook and Word summary.
- Make it monthly by asking your agent to remind you to export on the 1st, or to email the report to your team.
Tips for a better result
- Compare with the same period last year if your topic is seasonal. Month-over-month can mislead.
- Average position is an average over every searcher. Look at trends, not single numbers.
- Search Console hides some rare queries for privacy, so query totals will not match page totals exactly.
- Start with low-CTR pages already in the top 5. A better title can lift clicks without any ranking change.
Search Console data analysis: FAQ
- What is a good click-through rate in Search Console? It depends on position, query type and SERP features. Compare each page with your other pages at a similar position instead of using one fixed number.
- Why are my impressions up but clicks down? Often you started ranking for more searches at lower positions, or a SERP feature like an AI overview or video block now sits above you. A seasonal dip in demand can also do it.
- How far back does Search Console data go? The Performance report keeps 16 months. Export it regularly if you want a longer history.
- Is my Search Console data safe? Your files stay in your own agent workspace and only your agent uses them.
