A 15-minute weekly to-do review your agent runs with you
A weekly review is the habit that keeps a to-do list from turning into a graveyard. Most people skip it because it feels like a chore. This prompt makes your todo.is agent start the review for you every Friday, ask a few quick questions, sort open tasks and hand you a short plan for next week.
The prompt
- Every [DAY AND TIME], run a weekly to-do review with me on [WHERE TO SEND]. Ask me, one message at a time: what did I finish this week, what is still open, and what is worrying me. Use my open tasks from [WHERE MY TASKS ARE] too. Then sort the open tasks into: do next week, schedule later, delegate, and drop. Pick my top 3 priorities for next week, tied to my goals: [MY GOALS]. If Google Calendar is connected, look at next week's meetings and suggest 2 focus blocks for the top priorities. End with a short summary under 150 words, and save each week's review in one running document I can read later.
What to change
- [DAY AND TIME]: e.g. "Friday at 16:00" or "Sunday at 19:00".
- [WHERE TO SEND]: WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord or email.
- [WHERE MY TASKS ARE]: e.g. "my todo.is list", "the tasks I sent you this week", or "the attached spreadsheet".
- [MY GOALS]: e.g. "launch the new website by December, get fit, spend more evenings offline".

How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and choose your review day, goals and where your tasks live.
- Paste it into todo.is or send it to your agent on Slack, WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Each week, answer the agent's three short questions when the review starts.
- Approve the focus blocks if you want them in Google Calendar, and read past reviews in the running document.
Tips for a better result
- Friday afternoon works well: the week is fresh in your mind and you start Monday with a plan.
- Be willing to drop tasks. A review that only adds items makes the list longer every week.
- Keep the top 3 small enough to finish. Three real wins beat ten half-done tasks.
- Read the running document once a month. Patterns, like the same task slipping for weeks, show up fast.
weekly to-do review: FAQ
- What is a weekly review? It is a short, regular check where you look at what you did, clear out open tasks and plan the next week. The idea is popular from the Getting Things Done method.
- How long should a weekly review take? About 15 to 30 minutes. With your agent asking the questions and sorting tasks, 15 minutes is usually enough.
- Can it add focus time to my calendar? With Google Calendar connected, your agent suggests focus blocks and adds them after you say yes.
- Can my team do a weekly review in Slack? Your agent runs the review with you in your own chat. You can ask it to write a short team update from your review for you to post.
