WhatsApp reminders you set by just sending a message
Most reminder apps live in a tab you never open. WhatsApp is the one app you check all day. This prompt has your todo.is agent set up one-off and repeating WhatsApp reminders from a plain list, confirm each one back to you, and send them at the right time in your time zone.
The prompt
- Set up these reminders and send each one to me on WhatsApp at the right time: [YOUR REMINDERS WITH DATES AND TIMES]. My time zone is [YOUR TIME ZONE]. For repeating ones, keep going until I say stop. Write each reminder as one short line that starts with what to do, and add a useful detail if it helps (an address, a phone number, what to bring). Before anything starts, send me a numbered list of every reminder with its exact schedule so I can check it. If a reminder falls at night between [QUIET HOURS], move it to the next morning at 8:00 and tell me. Every [SUMMARY DAY] evening, send me one message listing next week's reminders.
What to change
- [YOUR REMINDERS WITH DATES AND TIMES]: One per line in plain words, e.g. "dentist Tuesday 14 Oct at 3:30 pm, remind me 2 hours before", "take out recycling every Thursday at 7 pm", "call mom every Sunday at 11".
- [YOUR TIME ZONE]: A city or zone, e.g. "Madrid" or "US Eastern". Reminders follow daylight saving changes.
- [QUIET HOURS]: When you do not want messages, e.g. "22:30 and 7:00". Remove this sentence if you want reminders at any hour.
- [SUMMARY DAY]: The day for the weekly overview, e.g. "Sunday". Remove the last sentence if you do not want it.
Example result
- Your reminders (please check)
- 1. Dentist: Tue 14 Oct, message at 13:30 (2 hours before the 15:30 appointment)
- 2. Recycling out: every Thursday at 19:00
- 3. Call Mom: every Sunday at 11:00
- 4. Renew ID card online: Mon 20 Oct at 9:00
- 5. Pay rent: on the 1st of each month at 9:00
- One change: you asked for the passport photo reminder at 23:15, which is in your quiet hours, so it moved to Wed 15 Oct at 8:00.
- What the messages look like
- Tue 13:30
- Dentist at 15:30 today, Clínica Ríos, Calle Mayor 12. Bring your insurance card. Leave by 15:00.
- Thu 19:00
- Recycling out tonight. Blue bin (paper) this week.
- Sun 11:00
- Call Mom. Last time she mentioned her knee appointment on Friday, ask how it went.
- Sunday overview (19:00)
- Next week:
- • Mon 9:00 Renew ID card online
- • Thu 19:00 Recycling out
- • Sun 11:00 Call Mom
- Changing things later
- • "Move the dentist reminder to 1 hour before"
- • "Stop the recycling reminder until January"
- • "Add: water the balcony plants every 3 days at 8"
- Reply on WhatsApp with any of these and your agent updates the schedule and confirms.
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt and write your reminders in plain words where the [brackets] are.
- Send it to your todo.is agent on WhatsApp, or paste it into the Today screen and choose WhatsApp for delivery.
- Check the numbered list your agent sends back and reply with any fixes.
- Add, move or stop reminders later by just replying in the same chat.
Tips for a better result
- Say how early you want the nudge ("2 hours before") instead of only the event time. An on-time reminder is often too late.
- Put the useful detail in the reminder itself: the address, the booking code, what to bring. Then you do not need to open another app.
- Group small daily nudges into one morning message. Five separate pings a day quickly become noise you ignore.
- Each scheduled run uses a few AI credits, so a weekly overview plus key reminders is cheaper than many tiny hourly ones.
WhatsApp reminders: FAQ
- Can WhatsApp send reminders by itself? WhatsApp can remind you about a single message, but it can’t send repeating reminders, checklists or reminders with details you choose. Your todo.is agent sends exactly the reminder you ask for into your WhatsApp chat, as often as you need.
- Can I set a WhatsApp reminder for another person? Your todo.is agent messages you, not other people. You can ask it to remind you to message someone and draft the text for you to forward.
- Do reminders follow daylight saving time? Yes. Give your city or time zone and the times stay correct when clocks change. If you travel, tell your agent the new time zone.
- How do I stop a repeating reminder? Reply "stop the [name] reminder" in the chat. Your agent removes it and confirms what is still scheduled.
