Telegram reminders without setting up a bot
Telegram reminder bots usually want exact commands and formats. Here you just write what you need to remember, in normal sentences. Your todo.is agent turns it into a schedule, messages you on Telegram at each time, and can add a short checklist or link so the reminder is ready to act on.
The prompt
- Message me on Telegram with these reminders: [WHAT TO REMEMBER AND WHEN]. Use [YOUR TIME ZONE] time. Make each message short, start with a verb, and add a checklist when a task has steps. For anything with a deadline, send a first reminder [HOW EARLY] and a second one on the day. If I reply "done" to a reminder, do not send the follow-up for it. If I reply "snooze", remind me again in [SNOOZE TIME]. First send me the full schedule as a list so I can confirm it.
What to change
- [WHAT TO REMEMBER AND WHEN]: Plain sentences, e.g. "submit timesheet every Friday 16:00", "car inspection on 3 Nov", "stretch break weekdays at 11 and 15".
- [YOUR TIME ZONE]: City or zone, e.g. "Berlin" or "Asia/Singapore".
- [HOW EARLY]: How long before a deadline, e.g. "3 days before" or "the evening before".
- [SNOOZE TIME]: For example "1 hour" or "tomorrow at 9".
Example result
- Schedule (Berlin time)
- • Submit timesheet: every Friday at 16:00
- • Stretch break: weekdays at 11:00 and 15:00
- • Car inspection (TÜV): early reminder Fri 31 Oct at 9:00, then Mon 3 Nov at 8:00
- • Book flights for Lisbon trip: early reminder Sat 8 Nov at 10:00, deadline Sat 15 Nov at 10:00
- Sample messages
- Friday 16:00
- Submit your timesheet.
- • Check hours for Wednesday (half day)
- • Add the client call on Tuesday
- • Send before 17:00
- Fri 31 Oct 9:00
- Car inspection on Monday 3 Nov.
- • Registration papers in the glove box?
- • Check tyre tread and lights this weekend
- • Booking: 8:30, Prüfstelle Nord
- Weekdays 11:00
- Stretch break. Stand up, roll shoulders 10 times, look away from the screen for 20 seconds.
- How replies work
- • You reply done to the car inspection message: the Monday reminder is cancelled.
- • You reply snooze to the timesheet: it comes back in 1 hour.
- • You write "pause stretch breaks during my holiday 20 to 27 Dec": they stop and restart on 29 Dec.
- Weekly check
- Every Sunday your agent can send one message with next week's reminders. Reply "yes weekly summary" to turn it on.
How to do it with todo.is
- Connect Telegram in todo.is so your agent can message you there.
- Copy the prompt, fill in the [brackets] and send it to your agent on Telegram or paste it on the Today screen.
- Confirm the schedule list, or reply with changes like "make it 9 instead of 8".
- Reply done or snooze to any reminder, and add new ones by sending a message in the same chat.
Tips for a better result
- Two-step reminders work best for deadlines: one early enough to prepare, one on the day.
- Pin your todo.is chat in Telegram so reminders sit at the top and do not get lost among channels.
- Use Telegram for work and WhatsApp for family stuff if you like: your agent can deliver different reminders to different apps.
- Keep reminder text short and action-first. "Submit timesheet" works better than "Don't forget it's Friday".
Telegram reminders: FAQ
- Does Telegram have built-in reminders? Telegram lets you schedule messages, including reminders to yourself in Saved Messages, which works for simple one-off notes. For repeating reminders, checklists and snoozing you need a bot or an agent like todo.is.
- Do I need to create a Telegram bot? No. You connect Telegram to todo.is once and your agent messages you there. There are no commands to learn.
- Can reminders go to a Telegram group? Your agent delivers to your own connected chat. If a group needs a reminder, it can write the text so you can post it there.
- What happens if I miss a reminder? It stays in your Telegram chat. You can also ask your agent to repeat important reminders until you reply done.
