PDF to Word converter that gives you an editable .docx
You have a contract, report or form as a PDF and need to change a few lines, but the original Word file is long gone. Send the PDF to your todo.is agent and it converts it to an editable Word document, checks the result page by page and tells you what shifted.
The prompt
- Convert the attached PDF to an editable Word document: [ATTACH THE PDF]. Convert [WHICH PAGES]. Keep the headings, tables, lists and images in place. If any page is a scan or photo, run OCR on it so the text is editable too. When you are done, open the .docx, compare it to the PDF and list any page where the layout moved or a table broke, then fix what you can. Name the file [FILE NAME].docx and [HOW TO DELIVER].
What to change
- [ATTACH THE PDF]: Attach the PDF (up to 50 MB). If it has a password, put the password in the message too.
- [WHICH PAGES]: E.g. "all pages", "pages 3 to 7" or "only the pricing table on page 12".
- [FILE NAME]: E.g. "Lease_Agreement_2026_editable". Without it, your agent keeps the original name.
- [HOW TO DELIVER]: E.g. "give me the download link", "email it to me" or "send it here on WhatsApp".
Example result
- Conversion report: Lease_Agreement_2026.pdf
- 14 pages in, 14 pages out · Word (.docx) · 1.2 MB
- What converted cleanly
- • Pages 1 to 8: body text, numbered clauses and bold headings are editable Word text with the same fonts where available
- • Rent schedule (page 4): a real Word table with 3 columns and 12 rows, so you can edit amounts and add rows
- • Landlord logo (page 1): kept as an image in the header
- What needed extra work
- • Pages 13 and 14 were scanned signatures pages. Your agent ran OCR, so the typed text is now editable; the signatures stay as images
- • Page 9: the footer sat slightly higher than in the PDF. Your agent moved it back into the footer area
- • Two-column annex (page 11): kept as two Word columns rather than text boxes, so it reflows when you edit
- How the file is built
- • Paragraphs are real paragraphs, not one text box per line
- • Headings use Word heading styles, so the navigation pane works
- • Page size and margins match the PDF (A4, 2.5 cm)
- Before you send it
- • Check numbers and names in OCR pages against the original
- • Use Track Changes if the other party needs to see what you edited
- • When you are finished, ask your agent to turn it back into a PDF
How to do it with todo.is
- Copy the prompt, say which pages you need and how you want the file back.
- Attach the PDF on the Today screen in todo.is, or send it to your agent on WhatsApp or Telegram with the prompt.
- Your agent converts it, opens the Word file to compare it with the PDF and fixes broken spots.
- Download the .docx, or reply "make the tables match exactly" or "convert page 2 again" to adjust it.
Tips for a better result
- PDFs exported from Word or Google Docs convert best. Scanned PDFs work too, but the text comes from OCR, so proofread names and numbers.
- If you only need one table, ask for that page alone. A small conversion is easier to check.
- For forms you only need to fill, you may not need Word at all: ask your agent to fill the PDF form fields instead.
- Ask for a short list of every place the layout changed. It saves you comparing 30 pages by eye.
PDF to Word converter: FAQ
- Will my PDF look exactly the same in Word? Simple documents usually match closely. Complex layouts with text boxes, many columns or unusual fonts may shift a little, and your agent tells you where.
- Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word? Yes. Your agent runs OCR on scanned pages so the text becomes editable. Accuracy depends on the scan quality, so check important figures.
- Can it convert a password-protected PDF? Only if you give the password. Your agent will not try to remove protection from files you do not own.
- Is my document kept private? The PDF and the Word file stay in your own agent workspace, and only your agent uses them. You can delete them whenever you want.
